USF Signs Contract with Wateen For Sindh Optic Fiber Project

Universal Service Fund has signed a contract with Wateen Telecom to provide Optic Fiber connectivity to all those Tehsils in Sindh where Fiber Optic cable has not reached so far. CEO-USF, Parvez Iftikhar and GM (Corporate Solutions) -Wateen Telecom signed the contract on behalf of their respective organizations.

During our detailed discussion with Mr. Parvez Iftikhar, CEO, USF (a month ago) he had urged this fiber optic roll out plan to reach each and every Tehsil of Pakistan; starting the journey from Sindh as part of its first phase.

Parvez Iftikhar in his presentation during the signing ceremony explained that the Universal Service Fund consists of contributions from Telecom Operators and is utilized to extend telecom networks to un-served areas. He informed that with such initiatives the populations of less developed areas, like those in rural Sindh, would be able to access modern facilities like tele-medicine, tele-centers, e-Government, e-Commerce, education and much more.

Chief Minister-Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Secretary IT, Hifz-ur-Rehman, Mr. Rauf Akhter Farooqui, Provincial Secretary IT as well as several key personalities related to telecom industry were also present at the occasion.

  • it is a very good start of USF and Wateen it will enhance the usage of internet and will bring the price more cheaper and it will also give a signal to other companies providing DSL that only karachi not use internet but whole Sindh and Pakistan use it,.,.,,.So this clearly give msg to them.,.,.,.,think of whole Pakistan
