Zong to Charge 10 Paisas for Balance Inquiries From Sep 1st

It has been communicated to Zong Users through SMS that Zong will charge all balance inquiries at 10 paisas per inquiry from September 1st , 2009. Zong customers received following message,

Dear Customer from Sep 01,2009 balance inquiry request *222# will be charged @10 paisas to give you the seamless connectivity on ZONG network

Earlier, Telenor and Ufone had announced to charge 10 paisas for each balance inquiries, through a message on their websites – which isn’t there now, thanks to PTA.

PTA had directed all cellular companies to advance notice to all customers before imposing any charge. As far as Zong’s this new charge is concerned, i guess PTA won’t cause problem for the company as Zong sent SMS to all of its customers, notifying them for service charges well before the imposition date.

However, we can expect reaction from other companies – and they may notify their customers too for this service charge.

  • Its totally non sense. How much we have to pay to the telecom companies.
    First when you load a Rs.100 card you are deducted Rs.15
    Then with every communication you are charged 19.5 %
    One is also even charged on calling the helpline.
    And now charges on checking our own balance! This is totally Crap.I am against this!

    • Aamir at least show some ‘jaan’ in your posts, you report this kinda stuff like PTV newscasters.

      Zong and other operators are using nasty tactics to earn more from each user. Why on earth would they charge for checking balance if they weren’t greedy. More so, you can get like 1sms for 1paisa on most medium sms packages from all operators, why 10paisas for the balance check then??

      Aamir i havent seen you bashing many operators lately, are you just reporting like PTV? come on man use your voice as pro-consumers, not pro-greedy-companies

  • thts also a service charge which is so much 5 percent !!!! so y not this balance inquiry is included in tht 5 percent ?
    PTA should take action .

  • They were already charging it since long as I am subscriber of Zong when it was Paktel and I had 0303 AMPS number.

    So nothing new for me :P Only keep filling these so called multinational cellular companies.

  • Zong is not doing good! Zong should preview otherwise I will migrate to another cellular network…… We pakistani already facing a lot of taxes on telecom ind. We already give cellular networks 5% service charges, while in case of postpaid there are no such charges….. why prepaid customers!!!!! Zong should revise otherwise I will leave zong…… Time to say good bye to zong…….

  • I had been ZONG subscriber since day one. But this stupid charge to check my OWN already taxed balance via automated computerized command would simply make me ditch ZONG for some other network. Had it been human operator informing me about my balance then this charge would have been understandable but its not the case so either they withdraw this stupid charge or else I am quitting. Normally i don’t switch operators so often,I am mobilink postpaid customer since their early days and despite their exorbitant and steep rates at times have stick with them all along.

  • Yai telenor hai jo sub companies ko keh rahi hai charges laganay per balance check per, kio k hamaray free balance check kernay per unko to network cost perti hai na.

    telenor nay khud to kabi khushi say customers ko services dena nahi hoti ab itehad bana rakha hai dosri companies say k tamam companian mil kar kaam karain g.

    pehlay ufone maan gai telenor k kehnay per laiken ufone nay faisla badal liya, or ab zong telenor k merge k baad telenor k jaraseem Zong main to janay he thay phir.

    fittay muh telenor tera bera garak, bay sharam bay haya meri jutti tera zong k sath viyah.

    • Han aur baaqi sub companies itni masoom hain ke Telenor ki baaton per khamoshi se amal karlein. Pata nai yar kaise kaise log hote hain

    • LOL, Chalo chalo jaldi karo, also bombard Zong’s *333# and *031# these are also codes to check account balance of your Zong.

  • Well, I have ported to Zong few weeks ago. Strange enough, I haven’t received any such SMS as yet. Are there any other people who have not received this?

  • Yesterday i received an sms from Ufone stating that they will also be charging for balance inquiry from 1st Sep.

    haftay main 4days telenor ke balance checking service and easy load service band rehti hai, shop per jao shop wala daant dikha kar kah deta hai “load nahi ja raha telenor network kharab”
    jub telenor call center per rabta karo, bhai kio nahi chal rahi telenor balance checking service aur easy load, to kehtay detay hain “chand network upgradations ke wajah say services ko temp disable kia gaya hai”

    phir meray jesay b unko keh detay hain haftay main 4 din services he upgrade hoti rehti hain baki 3 din wo he slow mehangi services.

    fittay muh telenor jhoton ka yai charges sirf lootnay k liyay lagayay or apni jeebain bachanay k liyay, baki sari kamai telenor pakistan say loot ker telenor malaysia, telenor bangladesh, telenor india ko day rahi.
