ImHalal, A search engine specially designed for the Muslims

ImHalalNow the Muslims can search safely on the web and they are not going to come across the content that is HARAM in Islam. Reza Sardeha, 20 years old CEO of AZS Media Group LTD has founded ImHalal, a Muslim search engine to serve content from around the web to the Muslims and stop searches made for profane material.

He said in an interview:

The search engine will not return results considered haram, forbidden, and only show results that are demand halal, approved, under Muslim religious law. I came up with the idea of launching a search engine specifically designed for Muslims where you can search websites without inadvertently coming across content that would be haram. First of all, we have blocked all sexually explicit content. We are also in talks with Imams to determine what might be considered haram and therefore be blocked.

Sardeha has high hopes and more plans for the future. “In one month’s time we hope to add Islamic widgets such as prayer time so that you can easily find out when to pray or when you come to the website you will see a quote from the Qur’an. We are marketing Imhalal as a social homepage for Muslim households” He said.

In the last few years, Muslims have become very active on the Internet. The lack of tools for Muslims to be able to continue their online activities responsibly has inspired ImHalal to enter the search engine market. They have developed a haram rating system which detects the syntax and can tell weather the syntax given by user is HARAM or HALAL. The system makes use of a two layer filter system. The first layer only sees the the world wide web and returns only clean and HALAL results while The second layer is really  important because it analyzes and triggers the HARAM rating system but the system can still be improved.

It has got three HARAM layers and it also has a child control system. Things which are prohibited in Islam, like ‘pork’ and ‘alcohol’ are termed as Haram.

Try out ImHalal right away.

  • ^^ I appreciate the comments but who will quit google or yahoo or msn ?

Firstly if anyone has internet and wants to look at haram material he has the liberty to do that. If he doesnt want to then he simply wont.

A halal search engine is simple marketing technique which might attract some.

    I will stick to google.

  • that is too great thing we have to leave Google because it is distorting our youth…..by giving sex materials…..we have capability but the thing is to polish n channelize our minds…

  • Simply Ridiculous – This is either the limit of stupidity or a way to make money online on the name of Islam.

First of all, a search engine returns you only the results with a link and two-liner description for your desired keyword(s). This solely depends on you what “keyword(s)” you search and what link you “choose” to follow. A person who wants haram content, will not come to this search engine and if DOES NOT want then obviously will take care of it on other search engines as well.

Second thing, I was not even able to search “Swine Flu”, “interest”, “Riba” etc. What if someone has to research over these topics? Bad Idea. Qur’an uses the same words to describe the disadvantages of such harmful things and activities, will they block verses from Qur’an too? Same applies to some other scholarly works.

Third thing, if something is harmful, it is harmful for everyone – not only for muslims.

  • it’s impossible to quit google first of all and all of it’s products, i personally used IMHALAL but not satisfied… it will take hell of years to get success in cyber world!
if you are going to use halal things then stop using intel , dell and ibm , first make motherboards, processors and other important things for your self then come to this…. there is no haram and halal if you are searching something over internet!

Ufone deducts 0.6 rupees on return of ULoan i.e. it gives Rs. 15.00 loan, and takes back Rs. 15.60. Which is clearly an interest (سود).

  • Thanks all dear , i am the owner of imhalal.com
My site is running under beta version, i am glad to see my site in propakistani,
    Thanks

  • My views after reading above comments are why to discourage or comment against these kind of ideas. Lets wait and see if site provides what it claims. Also they may have been using or should use the indexing of right content instead of blocking various keywords.
Still it would be of no match to Google, so for real results you would have to stick to that but no harm in trying this.

  • Whereas matter of pornographic material is concerned, this engine can serve. But it is not a Mufti to decide in other cases. We will have to contact islamic scholars for that purposes.

    Appreciated…

  • i m very happy that a pakistani muslim has luanched a good search engine.this is the way in which we can find an identity in cyber world.lets make it succesful my dear brothes.

  • gr8 dearzzzz,
muslims are gr8 in every movement,i love that spirit. i am also join this company for doing batter for muslims. keep it up

  • its not a search engine its kind of a mash up using apis of msn, yahoo, google and manipulate them in some order… dogpile.com is an example …. in order to make search engine you have to index pages and … blah blah… its has a list of some words that consider as “Haram” other than that its just an other way to use Islam and make revenue …

  • well its a good beginning hope it will work for us and we have to promote it and kindly change your search engine :)

  • WE ARE VERY HAPPY AS A MUSLIM TO FIND A NEW ISLAMIC SEARCH ENGINE THAT IS ACCORDING TO THE TEACHINGS OF ISLSM.

  • So sad,due to our carelessness, imhalal got shut down,as a Muslims we should have to support that.i remember a saying of our HOLY
PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W.W) whose meaning i will quote is that “dont follow a persons personal deeds, hosted listen to that what he says” it means that if a person who doesnt prays advices us to pray then we should’nt say that why you are not doing so instead we will think that its for our benefits.
All the above discussion is for the purpose that if a Muslim has created a search enging regardless of halal or harm,we had to support that, even if he has created it only for money and was using The name of Islam purely for marketing,he was then also giving the whole ummah a gift.if Muslim have their own search engine, their own social sites, then facebook and youtube were not so brave to lost potential users by abusing them religiously but they know well that we have no choice to use such service.
I am not a philospher but all the muslims remember my one sentence: If you didnt supported eachother.you will be ruined like iraq, afghanistan, palastine, kashmir.

    Iqbal says:

Na samjogay to mit jao gay a nadan Muslamano

tumhare dastan tak na hoge, sari dastanon mein

    Wakeup pakistan,
    wakeup ummah.

In last i am really sorry if my words hurt you.

    • agr ya sirf passa kama ka liya b kia ha to thk ha kune ka is sa musalmano ko fieda ho ga . yar ya imhalal open kune nae hu rha

      • ada ye tn hamare ko nahe chalane arha hai wo detalis send karo men us tareeque se chalao

  • well its all because of us and also due to not properly promoting the site.hope it will reopen

  • ap ko apnay 7 aisay genious logo ko shamil krna ho ga jo google k muqablay k lia s e ko tyre kr sken
