ProPakistani SMS Alerts (Beta) – Status Update
We have successfully completed beta trial of ProPakistani SMS alerts, at this moment, we thought of sharing our experience with our readers.
It was wonderful as well very challenging for us to maintain the quality with scalability. Today there are more than 6,000 subscribers, while we sent more than 40,000 text messages during this beta trial that just ended.
ProPakistani SMS alerts were being received in 10 countries, worldwide, while most of them, i.e. 98 percent are from Pakistan.
We are temporarily discontinuing this service, and will kick the normal broadcast from January 1st, 2010, inshAllah. During this we will keep doing our home work for parallel service afterward.
We thank all our subscribers/readers for being with us.
Known Issues:
We were able to identify that ported numbers of Ufone (Either ported out of Ufone or Ported into Ufone) didn’t receive SMS Alerts. For the purpose, we tried contacting concerned companies, but unfortunately issue remain unresolved.

My honest suggestion is :
Do not send only headlines. Use one sms alert for one post to express the whole post in a better way.
So if there are 5 new posts a day, it means 5 sms sent to 6000+ increasing Subscribers every day. I don’t think propakistani have resources like this, we are not google, or yahoo!

Currently you only tell there is a murder. At least mention who is murdered and who committed this, if not whole story.
Think about the people who dont have net connection or dont have time to read posts.
By this way they can read the summary at any convenient time and stay up to date.
Hey! I don’t think we ever reported murder stories, LOL, jokes apart… we need to maintain a balance between alerts and SPAM, there are many subscribers who would mind getting multiple messages a day.
Currently we are not offering the choice of getting one or multiple SMS, hence you are left with one SMS a day option. But let’s expect this to happen in future, when you will have an option of getting detailed multiple messages a day.

Propakistani is my favourite website that i visit befor e evn checking my mail. \i visite it most of the in 2009, must be hundreds of times.
But i am unfortunate for I cannot get SMS alerts because of porting in to U-FONE.

BTW, I hope this service doesnt get paid. I know the next person will reply saying “dont worry, it is free and will always remain free” but from my past experience i have seen that a good thing is free at first, and when it is successful, the owner/creator decides to make it paid! ! !
