Dr. Aun Abbas has been appointed as new CEO of National ICT R&D Funds by the board of directors recently. He will take his charge from the next month to execute all research and development projects under his supervision.
The selection has been made in the recent board meeting chaired by Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, who is also the In-charge of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).
At present, Fawad Younus is serving the organization as acting CEO after retirement of Mushtaq Bhatti, the additional head, in the beginning of the year. He will be assigned to his original position as head of Monitoring Department National ICT R&D Funds.
Dr. Aun Abbas was professor at Lahore University of Management and Science (LUMS) in School of Science and Engineering, Computer Science Department. He has more than 19 years of experience in the semiconductor and telecom industry and academia.
Before joining LUMS as a visiting faculty, he was a co-founder of Teleware Systems that was later acquired by PalmChip Corporation.
During 2002-2006, he served as the CEO of both Teleware Systems and PalmChip Pakistan. He is also on the board of a few other Pakistani high-tech start-ups. He also provides consultancy services to the telecom companies such as Centillium and Nortel.
To his credit are more than hundred (100) technical contributions in ITU-T, IEEE 802, ANSI, ETSI, ATM Form and DSL Forum related to DSL and high speed access technologies.
Dr. Abbas holds 4 US patents while another three (3) patent applications are pending. Dr. Abbas is also Principal Investigator for a PTCL R&D Fund Grant.
Dr. Abbas holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada, and a B.S in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore.
its nice that dr abbass has joined ceo r&d fund. first thing is mr mushtaq ahmed batti had no rights to work as ceo r&d fund. he is actually responsible for all the situation caused deadlock. some managment of r&d fund has helped him to do so for thier mutual benefits.mr batti has been there to clean his shit from r&d fund and acting ceo fawad and manager hr nelofar are equally supporting him as they collectively have done corruption. ex GM of solictiation and evalation has rasied many objections of financial coruption who was terminated by thes guys. he has kept them responsible for this.
