In a interesting political development, email id of Dr. Babar Awan, Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former law minister, got hacked today, which is mass mailing media and other contacts available in the address book about resignation of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan.
It merits mentioning here that Mr. Zardari is in Dubai for medical check-up after he suffered a minor heart attack on Tuesday.
After Mr. Zardari’s sudden departure, capital was largely rumored that President might resign amid increase pressure from opponents. At such a time, this email from Mr. Awan, a close ally of President, fanned the fire – however it was quickly assessed that email account was hacked.
On a related note, senior government officials and leaders probably need try double authentication methods for securing their email accounts.
