Pakistan Military to Manufacture Handheld Tablets

331525-mobile-1328293590-427-640x480Pakistan Military is reportedly in process of developing a handheld tablet, a market dominated by the likes of Apple, Amazon and Samsung, reported Express Tribune the other day.

A rather surprising report said that the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra has started up a new commercial venture with a Chinese company to manufacture smart tablets to strengthen national economy.

It is said that venture may produce several products starting with a computing tablet, a notebook and an eBook reader.

Details suggest that products are initially being marketed in Rawalpindi, but modalities needed to be finalized so it could expand to other cities including Lahore and Karachi.

The competitively priced products, he said, have several benefits because they are being manufactured in Kamra.

“It comes with a joint one-year warranty of PAC and Innavtek. Because PAC is producing it, it will ensure quality. We will also provide backup support,” the official said an official.

It is interesting to note here that cpmc.pk, the website for the venture, is currently down for exceeding bandwidth.

We are awaiting response from their sales team on pricing and specification; hence expect more details here soon.

  • as far as i remember when i saw their presentation on their website

    Tablet was 15500
    laptop was 26500
    ebook reader was 8500

    • Might as well correct it in the URL as well as in the main text:

Pakistan Military is reportedly in process of developing a handled tablet, a market dominated by the likes of Apple, Amazon and Samsung, reported Express Tribune the other day.

  • i do not agree with army to do business as they are doing in Pakistan, there should be some restriction on them, where are our business man who should do and government should support not army to manufacture with collaboration with other country company to earn profit as the product will come with some price and One thing more why in Rawalpindi? because of Army base ? Why all products came Karachi/Lahore first there are other province/cities in Pakistan !!!.
    Pakistan –> Made in China…..

    • a bigoted and negative view. what civilians are doing! dying to buy foreign products and giving no output, come and see out elite class with iphone 4 they are truly psycho.. at least this is a step, prodigious to the ailing economy. i will appreciate anyone in Pakistan, and no doubt the psychotic and incompetent nation of Pakistan should learn some discipline from this army. i am not an army man or any supporter, but i am not a negative thinker like you!

WHAT BUSINESSMEN HAVE DONE TILL YET! CAPITALIST PSYCHOTIC MENTALITY IS ALL WHAT THEY HAVE. STUDENTS WILL BENEFIT FROM THINGS ON THE SILHOUETTE OF AMAZON-KINDLE LIKE THINGS. THE BUSINESSMEN ARE LOOTING STUDENTS AND DEPENDENTS WITH EXORBITANT RATES. THE MINI LAPTOP IS AT LAST IN PAKISTAN IN ITS INDIGENOUS FOLDS.

      • Dear IAMPAKISTAN,
Give us, the bloody civilians 600 Billion + 200 Billion (hidden) + Xbillion dollars and then ask us what we did or did not.

The point is , is our ARMY doing its basic job for which it was hired ?

Answer is NO. It has failed in all wars (48,71,84,99) miserably and barely managed 1965 , its track record is awesome in plundering by selling Nukes to IRAN, LIBYA, NK etc and then getting exposed by UN agency and then making Dr. Qadir an escape got, failure to defend on May 2 and May 22, an awesome track record of political interference , making breaking political parties, bribery, corruption by the top guns (remember Admiral mansoor and Agosta ? ) and what NOT and you are asking us what the civilians have done?

The point is, when an ORG has miserably failed in doing its primary job, whats the point in venturing into a domain which is not its duty?

        • Dear Munib,
IF you think the job of army appart from its Basic job (of defending the country) as you say is to run the country as well then we don’t agree with you (pun intended)

And we never failed in 48 or 71 or 84 or 99. Our political diplomacy failed to negotiate pre-war, during war and post war scenarios. The job of army is to fight not negotiate on table the terms of truce. That was and will be the job of politicans.

And why are u angry us selling nukes.
Didnt US stole Nuke tech from germans. Didnt Russians took the tech from USA, Canada and Britain. Even french stole it. Then why can’t we being a muslim state help another muslim state become a nuclear power and thus scare the shit of Non muslim states that want to usurp our sovereignty.
The day army fails miserably you will be sleeping in gutters.
Even today Pak army is paying with its blood to protect this country. They stay awake they bear blistering cold of Siachin and burning hot air of Thar so that you can sleep soundly in your home at night.
P.S I hated the Mushraf regiem and during that time I hated army as well all because of Mr Mushraf.I have no army background, just incase you might think otherwise.

  • Who the hell is manufacturing those display panels?

I’ve never heard of a 7″ 1920×1280 LCD panel. Not even in 11″ for that matter. That is a very high end and unconventional resolution.

  • this is bull crap why the hell would army be manufacturing? are all our enemies turned friends to us? army should be doing what it has been leeching our country’s budget for….

    • Hi, why is army manufacturing? Nice question, this manufacturing is taking place at pac kamra, which comes under ministry of defence productions. Like pakistan army manufactures tanks and airforce its planes, under that damn production department, ther real stakeholder is govt of pakistan not army. Thanks.

  • i have placed order for noteBook. Lets see when they contact me about shipping.. Laptop is atom 1.6ghz..

  • Its good ek android smartphone bhi ho jaey toh achha rahe ga aur tablet ki price 10K to12K honi chahiye thi

  • Army can do anything but what they are assigned to do. They can’t protect country from invaders and don’t know most wanted person living in their neighbourhood but want to sell tablets, because it gets them more money. Ayesha Siddiqua rightly pointed out that they are Pakistan Military Inc.

  • Guys, we have just launched our first iOS app and its now available on the AppStore worldwide. will be available on android soon INSHALLAH.. I’m very pleased to share with you that in about 8 hours of launch ALHAMDULILLAH we have achieve the following ratings so far in the Paid Application Pakistani AppStore:

1st Position in the Education Category
2st Position in overall AppStore Categories
15th Position in the Top Grossing Apps

Please do have a look and visit

    http://www.facebook.com/KalimahApp

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kalimah-app/id497324010?ls=1&mt=8

    • KALIMAH is just great application, I believe that $0.99 is very less amount… You are developers, try something else to earn money and let it be free for muslims. I am sure it will be rewarding then the price mentioned there…

      Jazakallah…

    • Very low end. Very disappointed with memory. I was surprised to see only 256MB RAM with a 1GHz processor.

  • There is nothing wrong in army manufacturing these tablets. It is going to be civilians who would be employed in the manufacturing and assembling plant. IT civilians who would be provided jobs in these factories. So nothing wrong there. Good to see Pakistan military playing it’s part in the technological and economic progress of Pakistan.

    • Jobs, hah, what a joke. Who’s making PROFITS? Don’t you think something meant to benefit the population here should be run with low (10%) profits? Distribute the profits among the employees.

      • Obviously military would earn profits which again is good. The civilian govt can spent the extra money on something else like education or health if they want to. I don’t what is the problem here if military has taken an initiative to do something to contribute towards the progress of Pakistan and it’s economy. Stupid behavior.

        • How does it progress Pakistan’s economy? Importing goods is always a bad sign. Even if the devices are assembled here, the parts are all imported.

Now, if the devices were EXPORTED, that would help the economy.

          • Not all parts would be exported. Many parts would be manufactured here and assembled in Pakistan. It is a JV between PAC and Chinese company. It is good for the economy in the sense that it would provide employment to people and secondly it would help decreasing the import bill that Pakistan spends on importing iPods, iPads etc etc.

            • Break it down for us. All the high tech parts are imported (processor, memory, display, USB, other chips, etc). What is manufactured here? The case?!

              • Even if all the parts/devices you named will be manufactured(assuming) still it is a good development that at least we took a start from somewhere. Yeah the civilian govt and businessmen were too incompetent or too busy in looting people so at least PAC too an initiative where we can enhance further to the extent that one day we can at least come to the stage where we would start manufacturing chips/USB/etc.

                • — at least PAC too an initiative where we can enhance further to the extent that one day we can at least come to the stage where we would start manufacturing chips/USB/etc.

Everyone I have heard wishing they could make chips in Pakistan simply does not know the reality of the situation. It can take BILLIONS of dollars to set up a good fab for chips, and by the time it’s built, it’s close to obsolete (other places will make smaller (nm) chips by then). Plus, you don’t just need a fab, you need an entire industry geared towards supplying chemicals and other products needed to fabricate chips.

                  Details:
                  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiconductor_fabrication_plant

It’s far cheaper just to outsource to Malaysia or China.

So I ask you a simple questions. Can we finally stop buiding atomic bombs and start building fabs??? Or is that “unpatriotic”?

  • Pak Military is supposed to defend our borders and not to become a corporate jerk. We spend half of our budget in defense, yet we face DRONES and AMERICAN ATTACK at Abbottabad.

We are a poor/poorly managed country but just look at the lavish housing residencies of these military officials.

THEY SHOULD NOT GET INTO THE BUSINESS ! IF THEY DO, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO ASK and SAY OUR POLITICIANS CORRUPT.

    • Its not half of your budget it 4% of your budget. They need more to meet their requirments. So gov is not giving them they have to genrate it by themselves.

      • That 4% figure does not have the whole store. More than 10% of that is for military pensions and other expenses, and an unknown number is for secret actvities.

      • @Jawad, they can save more by not spending too much on decorating their messes, offices & accomodations. I know of some officers who had upto 16 cars in their possession, TVs in offices with cable watching indian channels is a normal thing now in army. I don’t say airforce is like army as there are more educated people in PAF than in army, so saving from army should be spent on PAF, but I support their generating money by such projects, but don’t support such move by Army as high rank officers just make money out of it even after retirement (our fertilizers factories are one example). I know of army officers who are serving officers but running their own big scale educational institution in the heart of Islamabad.

    • I agree with you our army should not get into business. Unfortunately, they are already into it. DEFENCE HOUSING AUTHORITY(DHA).

  • These tablets and laptops will be failed like Akash Tablet in India. In this low price how they can maintain quality.

    • Uhmm critical? i call you oblivious , call cellphones, devices have monitoring everywhere in this world, who looks at them? think about it. this is the least of your worries. Obviously you havent read much info on U.S spyware.

      • Well the nice thing about android devices is, you can get the android source code and build for your device. 0% PAC provided software, 100% Google software (which you can read the source code for).

        • Shahid Saleem,
Sorry dude you mostly lack a good argument, you can find negative in a very postive thing and positive in a very obviously negative thing, depends on your never changing likeness/dislikeness. But if you had to make policies for Pakistan, people would have been crying “Shahid Saleem” and not Zardari.

          • — Sorry dude you mostly lack a good argument

            Huh? Are you IGNORANT?

I repeat what I said: you have android source code, there is 0% possibility of holes because you CAN read the code that you install on devices.

Oh and yes you can also find encrypted SMS apps for Android. With source code so you can check for holes.

    • Yes, you aren’t willing to trust your own people but you trust Nokia,Iphone, Samsung, HTC and Chinese for not having a spyware installed. Bravoooo..shows your mind set.

      • — Yes, you aren’t willing to trust your own people but you trust Nokia,Iphone, Samsung, HTC and Chinese for not having a spyware installed.

I for one DO NOT trust them. That is why I use Android and yes I do have a copy of the source code. It’s a large download (10GB) and it takes a lot of disk space to build (45-65GB) but this way I COMPLETELY CONTROL MY OWN DEVICE.

  • Army welfare trust and Fauji Foundations are one of the largest group of companies engage in commercial busniess. Search on google and check their yearly profit.Read “Military Incorporation by Aisha Siddiqua” for details.

  • Hey. At least the army s taking an initiative that our business men haven’t. People want cheap android tablets that our reliable and have after sales support. The army has provided such. In my opinion the bussiness men should also undertake such projects. Sure the army leeches money or whatever but they are providing qualty product.

    • Great, so now who can compete with PAC sold devices??? Who will be foolish enough to go up against PAC?

And that is the downside to having a military as a business competitor

      • that is what you think thanks to your anti0military paranoia. Anyone can compete with PAC made/sold devices.

  • AOA,
I think this is a very good step taken by Pakistan Army, because these expensive tablets and e-books will now be available at a much cheaper cost in our country;as they are manufacturing by Pakistan.
As far as Tablet android is concerned, there should be atleast 512 MB of ram is necessary for proper working, and 7″ display ?? lol. Notebook needs also some upgradation. All in All this is a very good step taken by Pakistan, availability of cheap devices will save foreign exchange also :) PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i thought military is supposed to protect country, it’s people and develop something that help in battle field.

Why don’t they develop something that make their work effective.

    • The world is building drones, long range missiles, missile shield systems, and much more to protect their land & people, and counter enemies.

Our armed forces decide to compete in Tablet… Good going, if we can’t be the best armed forces in the world, we’ll surely become better than Apple or Samsung (for that matter).

    • Yeah that is another very important point you raised but again bashing military is the point of discussion now. Who cares if it is manufactured by GHQ or ISI or PAC.

  • Pak Army should concentrate on doing what they are hired for, if they want to save pakistan money and contribute to pakistan economy they should concentrate on producing effective and quality Army products what they are buying at high price from foreign countries and save money to contribute to Pakistan economy not doing this commercial business, other wise this will be first step and then they start making phone and calculators and so on.

  • I totally agree with you @Pakistani and others supporting the move

what’s wrong with it if military wants to arrange self-support for itself. one day we say they are leeching out budget (viz. the AWAM’s money) and when they try managing something for themselves we start criticizing that as well.

we’re born to CRITICIZE EVERYTHING FOR NOTHING.

a product manufactured with PAC’s signature will have more confidence from the users. and PAC will feel much more responsible for whatever they’re offering (at least 10 times more than those other Pakistani gadget manufacturers).

albeit the specs, I agree, are a lil irksome. must be enhanced. and I believe they will be when PAC will get users’ feedback.

please guys, learn to your institutions, OUR INSTITUTIONS. when Indian military introduces a HI-TECH GLACIER TOILET and offers to make it available to public (that too on a price, not free) that is called a good move for public welfare. and when Pakistani military is bringing something good in Pakistan we start barking (sorrie for being this harsh) without even givin’ a darn to expected good from this.

BUSINESSMEN AREN’T BRINGING ANY GOOD TO THE COUNTRY, AND WE WON’T LET ANYBODY ELSE DO THAT FOR US. *wth*

    • Oh, right. So your answer is to blame businessmen. Aren’t these the same businessmen who provide 90% of the products you see in a local store?

Yes, but you can blame them for doing nothing for you. Smart man, Arshad you are.

      • and wot if the very same BUSINESSMEN keep ignoring certain sectors? probably because they are too busy hoarding oil, sugar and eatables. rite??

well.. honestly, I never meant an offence to business guys actually. it was just to express that if they are neglecting something (bcz they don’t find any good in investing in particular areas. thats mean of them. innit?) then why do we hv to stick our hopes with them (and only them)? why not appreciate other entities to come forward and contribute to the market. but NO. we’ll criticize military for what’s WRONG with them and we’ll also criticize them for whatever is NOT-SO-WRONG.

        • — probably because they are too busy hoarding oil, sugar and eatables. rite??

Funny, I don’t see anyone EXCEPT businessmen and government catering to those sectors. So how can they ignore the same sectors they produce products for? Your logic: #fail.

          • catering to what?? they are stuffing up their bank balances dude. that is it.

and sorrie sir what are they PRODUCING products for? they are importing it all. can you mention some good brands for household products or electronics of PAKISTANI ORIGIN???

you’ve taken the discussion to all wrong direction man. the thing is that if one institution stands up to take an initiative why do we HAVE TO pull their leg? prolly bcz they’re not offering us a share??? :P :P

            • — the thing is that if one institution stands up to take an initiative why do we HAVE TO pull their leg?

When have I done that??? The ONLY criticism I have is that the tablet has too little memory. All my other criticism is against the people saying it’s a great idea and it will benefit the economy. THEY are my targets, not PAF.

  • I totally agree with you @Pakistani and others supporting the move

what’s wrong with it if military wants to arrange self-support for itself. one day we say they are leeching out budget (viz. the AWAM’s money) and when they try managing something for themselves we start criticizing that as well.

BUSINESSMEN AREN’T BRINGING ANY GOOD TO THE COUNTRY, AND WE WON’T LET ANYBODY ELSE DO THAT FOR US. *wth*

    • — we’re born to CRITICIZE EVERYTHING FOR NOTHING.

That is OUR RIGHT. Unless you can show that any institution in any country is free of corruption and wastage.

      There isn’t one.

Criticism is NOT automatically anti-patriotic. Who told you that???

      • is that our right to CRITICIZE EVERYTHING *FOR NOTHING* ??? please correct me if I’m getting you wrong.

and well.. I never said the military in Pakistan is free of corruption. so is the case with every other institution we have, why do we let them lead us?? huh?? and btw what so links their self-earning with corruption? if they come up with sub-standard stuff they’ll be turned-down. and WE will be the ones turning them to earth (lolzZ… the ones who always cast their votes so righteously :D ).

magar kisi ko chance diye bina discourage karna is really not appreciative, IMO. n manufacturing and experimenting with the technology can surely prove to be an up in their own technical strengths. the military ones. while that wont be any further burden on the (so-transparent) budget.

        • — is that our right to CRITICIZE EVERYTHING *FOR NOTHING* ???

YES, it is a right. Stupid use of the right, but it is a right.

          — please correct me if I’m getting you wrong.

Also do note that if someone criticises WHO ARE YOU YOU SAY IT IS FOR NOTHING??? Maybe it is nothing TO YOU but it’s not nothing to others. WHO MADE YOU FINAL ARBITRAR OF WHAT IS WORTH CRITICISING?

          No one.

          • are you arguing for your right to *criticize everything for nothing* or trynna prove that it’s not NOTHING??? :|

and c’mon I’m no arbitrator for nothing. all of us are sharing our opinion. be it negative or positive.

            • I’m trying to show that YOU might think other people’s criticism is for nothing but that’s just because you’re too close-minded to see their point of view.

              — all of us are sharing our opinion. be it negative or positive.

Yeah, except you’re calling what others do “criticising for nothing”.

  • Critique on military is uncalled for and generally based on lack of knowledge. In most of the developed countries, historically basic work for all the new developments come from defense forces. In subsequent phases, these developments are refined and converted to full fledge projects/products for commercial by civilian entities. I quote “Internet” as an example which started as communication within defense forces and where we stand now.
Efforts of PAC are praise worthy and must be positively appreciated. Why the other “civilian entities” do not undertake such initiatives? Probably the answer is “obvious” and you keep hearing about it daily on the media.

    • The internet was never FOR defense forces, it was developed WITH defense money. It was almost 100% academic networks and military networks for 25 years.

But, what about things like Email? Not a military oriented invention. Web? Same. Companies like Netscape, Microsoft, Apple? No, no military here but lots of innovation.

      • @Shahid Saleem

sorry to say, but it (The Internet) was :) you can seek help from the very same invention. :)

THE COMPANIES came in quite late. that too can be confirmed :)

          • So you accept it was funded by Military. Well that says it all. Internet was developed for Military or why else they would be funding it for some students.

            • — Well that says it all.

              Nope.

OP said “In most of the developed countries, historically basic work for all the new developments come from defense forces.”

That is not true. Sure the military funded internet, but they could not have even started funding it without academic progress, and they certainly did not lead its development. Again, academia.

              — Internet was developed for Military or why else they would be funding it for some students.

Milnet is largely cut off from the Internet.

              • It is cut off from the internet not at the time it was developed. The fact that internet was funded by Military itself proofs that internet was developed by Military or for military. Why would the military want to spend it’s important resources for academic and education related development if the development had no use in military.

                • — The fact that internet was funded by Military itself proofs that internet was developed by Military or for military

And the fact that the idea and concepts used for the Internet did not come from military funding but from academic or commercial research means what, exactly? Other than they picked up some stuff that worked and help join it? That’s the funding?? Wow. Big work.

                  — Why would the military want to spend it’s important resources for academic and education related development if the development had no use in military.

VERY FEW resources go to academia, most go to companies.

  • Being a marketing student, This is strange news to me because there is no Brand element and there is no innovation or creativity in the product.

These products are already available in market and more advance products are coming.

It’d be better if army develop something close to iPad or Galaxy tab or better.

They haven’t sufficient bandwidth to handle the traffic, how will they manage there clients??

If they need to develop a tablet, they should do this for themselves, they could develop a tough Book type of tablet.

God save Army and Pakistani people who worship China.
    Regards
    Ali R. Khan

  • I think the next step is the drone… Remember Parrot Drone that can be flown with iPad… So they have a tablet, next step is to build a drone and fly it with the tablet!!!

On a serious note, like Rehan bahi said, its Military Inc. They are more interested in plots, golf clubs, and other commercial ventures rather than thinking on how to protect this country.. We bash our civilian leaders, as if their is no tomorrow, but as soon as we bash our Army, everybody raises a question on our patriotism!!!

  • Army should be doing what they are hired for. They should rather be coming up with newest military related technology and devices which could defend our people. With 70000 people martyred by drones and other attacks and hundreds of thousands of our afghan brothers martyred next door, what do we get from our elite army? Guess what, tablets !!!! What a joke. A hungry nation paying bulk of their budget for feeding royal army which has always failed to defend its borders, people and their interests.

  • I think this is the delimea of our nation they can easily find negative point in a very noble cause …..

  • I cant see anyone else making tablets in Pakistan. Where are those tech universities who have the funds to develop technology and the resources as well. If those organizations dont do their job. I think its fair enough that the army develops tech in whatever time not being used in defending the country. Besides its not as if all 60lakh or so soldiers made these tablets etc. Its high time that the people of pakistan learn to develop their own technology and not be dependant on apple sony …etc. Just take a look at India and Bangladesh….. If our bussiness men and scientists dont make progress well its not really the army’s fault if they do….

  • here is the video review
i used it personally and its quality was good
touch is also better then i expected
processor is quite good only thing that lacks is RAM
    mobiles-prices.com/mobile_review_video/PAC_Kamra_InnavTech/Tablet

    • thanks sir, for the correction :)

but for us Pakistani folks all the armed forces lie under the umbrella of ARMY :P

  • I m Providing Technical support to PAC Kamra. All the equipment for manufacturing laptops is being installed may be in march they will launch their notebook which is very good step.

  • Looks like everyone is quite convinced that our forces are doing a wonderful job by developing tablets. If this is the case lets hire them for building better brands. I am sure it will be pretty hard to compete hp, dell etc. so they would all need to work pretty hard. While they will be busy doing so, lets hire someone else to protect us and our borders. Lets open a tender for this and ask India , China and Russia for a bid, i am sure they would be pretty interested :)

  • It does not look good to me. While it is not uncommon for military to produce hi-tech devices — US military is an example — they do it covertly. It would have been better if the PAC had sponsored a Pakistani company to do this job.

It is more important to build a drone, a fighter jet, a modern tank and other warfare items for the military/air force production units. Leave consumer electronics to the private sector though they can sponsor some ventures.

  • I see alot of people complaining that this is not the job of army to do so called ‘business’. Keep in mind that the very internet you use was invented by the military, the hand held devices you use was invented for military use. the dvd you use was invented by military. Army of US, India, Europe, China, Japan and many more all invent things for their purpose and to make money out of it.

So be happy and want to be a part of these accomplishment rather than bragging.

  • Hi
All those who are talking about being Army into business, I think i should remind them that Army is already in business with name of Askri, FWO and many other organizations. And they are doing pretty good. So dont just start pointing out fingers blindly.

  • We are not blind about this. They are more interested in business than they are in defending the borders. The problem we have is to start businesses the capital and resources come from our money but the profits are for them to keep. Also i am not interested in paying salaries to those who are busy managing their private businesses. By the way who else do you expect to start new businesses other than army while they have access to bulk of the nation’s resources and they are above all kind of law and accountability.

  • All these points raised by you are based upon speculations. Many of us say these things everyday… I dont know why do you say that profits are for “them” to keep. Who in this world shares profits of his business with others??? Everyone is responsible for paying taxes on his income and that’s it. Army is also producing new weapons, spending money on border security and many other stuff which you dont see. Who apart from army has even thought of producing such low price tablets, ebook readers and laptops? If army has taken this initiative, why not welcome it? After all these products have to be sold in our country which will increase access of the people of our country to these products. All this is for our good. If I am not able to buy a iPad, i may be able to buy one tablet manufactured by the Pak army. If they are getting money for producing something good, its fair enough.

  • Army in market and business is not a speculation or a myth. Taxes are not collecting on income alone, even the bottle of milk that a poor homeless person buys for a starving child has a tax added on it and not to forget the sneaky deceitful tax that is the printing of money by state bank, more than 3000000000 rupees every day. Wouldn’t it sound crazy if my security guard fails to protect my property from trespassers, but i give him an additional role of managing my business? There are no businessmen left in the country to manufacture tablets because of the miserable conditions that have been maintained by dictators like Musharraf and army backed NROs.

  • Who says that army is failing securing our homeland?? It has been quite successful in doing this since very first day. Every fight we lost was because of our political compromises, not our lack of defending the country. Army has proven its strength by taken strong action in FATA and you have seen the results; suicide attacks are now history. 1965, 1971, cargul; every time political leadership shown its stupidity which resulted in blames on army. So dont blame army for everything. We need to put some responsibility on our shoulders as well because we chose such leaders who try to prolong their tenures by hook and crook. So read the history and then say your thoughts.

  • You rightly claim “since the very first day” simply ignoring the fact that half of the Pakistan is known as Bangladesh today. Your lifeline that feeds this parched, arid land through its rivers known as Kashmir/jugular vein of Pakistan, is held hostage to India with no hope of recovery. Nation’s economic backbone is the property of terrorists like MQM. Kargul was a failure of army not Nawaz Shareef, stop lying to people and for …. sake stop bragging about your victorious status on killing residents of Pakistan indiscriminately. You are quite content on the massacre of more than 35000 Pakistanis in drones and other attacks but you are dumb enough to expect there will be no backlash. Because of your sold-out patriotism no one wants to live with you anymore. Don’t believe me, huh? Ask your ally America about the status of Baluchistan. Pashtoons are your enemies now and Kashmiris have already given up on you, the masters of U turn. Stop feeding fabricated history to our masses. Only Allah can help us reclaim this country from these blood sucking elites.

  • Faisal, half of pakistan is bangladesh today not because of Pakistan. It was Bhutto’s slogan, “Idher hum udher tum”. That was not army. It was PPP who refused to accept results of the elections and asked army to stop protest there. Army can not refuse orders of their supreme commander, who is president of Pakistan. So dont blame army for Bangladesh. MQM is not part of Pakistan army so dont talk about that please. Kargul was result of “bheegi billi” who first gave green signal for the operation and then gave orders of pull back after getting strict orders from his “father”, uncle sam. Again drone attacks are not responsibility of pakistan army. Its pak govt who needs to take action for stopping these attacks. Just 1 day ago, Gen. kiyani has said that pak army is fully capable of stopping NATO attacks. Also many times PAF chief have said that PAF is fully capable of crushing drones. But both army and PAF can not do it without approval of Pak Govt. So ask your leaders why they are silent on these attacks. Why dont they give orders to Pak army or PAF to blow these drones down?? Its all logical. Army is not the authority, its Pak govt who takes decisions and orders army for actions. Kashmir is not hostage to india because of Pak Army. In fact today, Azad Kashmir is result of operation by Pak Army. In 1971, Pak army was almost there in Akhnor to cut the main route of India to Kashmir but Pak govt stopped Army there and changed the command from Gen Akhter Hussain Malik to Gen. Yahya. This delay in changing of command made india able to gather itself again in Akhnor and the mission failed. This is history. If you want to read it, you can.

  • Azad Kashmir was liberated by Mujahideen from Northern areas and i have seen dozens of small graveyards of those mujahideen in Kotli AJK not of any army personnel. I am not against Pakistan army in reality, but are you serious in thinking that they take their marching orders from jerks like Bhutto and Syed Yusuf Raza gillani. Govt. has been trying their best to keep agencies like ISI under govt control but never managed this. The worst kind of blow back on our foreign policy come from the U turns Musharraf took who was not an elected person but a army dictator. Well, i am not saying puppet govts. haven’t been responsible but since when has army started operating under these traitors. Army will only get disrespect, hatred and zero support as long as they comprise of bunch of cowards. I am proud of people like Zia ul Haq and if they would like to see some respect restored for themselves, they better start producing people like Zia again.

  • After reading the comments and the article, I can’t believe how thick are we?

It is NOT the job of military to produce consumer electronics. We pay the military by taxes from our bread. Trust me, it’s very hard for a common Pakistani to pay taxes on everything. A poor Pakistani who doesn’t earn enough to pay income tax (because he is below the tax bracket) but he have to pay indirect taxes when he buy food items, groceries, clothes, fuel, even when he load credit to his mobile, in short he pay taxes on everything. And a big portion of these taxes goes to military, for which nobody in Pakistan has power to ask military where they are spending. I am not even going to talk about direct and indirect foreign aids to military.

No one in Pakistan has power to ask military why they pay so heavily when any general is retired? Even the junior rank officers get apartments, plots in DHA, cars, free medical for whole family, free education for whole family, and everything? It doesn’t drop from sky, we pay for all these things through our taxes.

After they are retired, they pool their money (exorbitant amount of money which they get when they retire) and start doing businesses which are bared from income taxes, under the title of “Fauji”.

Why we pay taxes to military? So that they protect us from enemies from outside and inside. And I am sorry to say that so far they have done sloppy jobs.

For all those people in comment who say that civilians or business community haven’t done anything for providing cheap consumer electronics? QMobile?!?! I searched the whole page and not one person mentioned QMobile.

Even in these tough times, when we have bleak future, businessmen are trying. An example is QMobile. Given the opportunity, by having better law management and better law-and-order, our businessmen can provide more companies like QMobile who can deliver cheaper electronics including tablets and all kind of things. Military does NOT need to jump in it and start stamping Chinese made product with their “Assembled by Pakistani Military” stamps.

And please do yourself a favor and read the book “Military Inc.” by Ayesha Siddiqa.

  • Army of US, India, Europe, China, Japan and many more all invent things for their purpose and to make money out of it.

This is not true. The US army has developed a lot of things. The rest, no where near as much. As for the Pak army, they are not developing/researching, they are making a product for profit. They are using technology thats already been developed.

  • Anyone who doubts the abilities of free market believes that all the knowledge, wisdom and technologies that human societies possess today ware engineered by defense forces. Quite absurd, isn’t it? And by the way in the tyrannical times we are living in, research work can mainly be carried out by big corporations like Monsanto and pfizer and governments only because all the money is with them. Masses have no money left for any research work as they are already starving. 95% person of humans do not even have 1% share in the total wealth.

  • By the way big corporations are not so big because of the market but because of them getting together with governments and because of their ability to write law by bribing governments. Every law written anywhere today serves a special interest. Lobbyist are in bed with governments where ever you trace back. Military is the most dangerous kind of servant because it is simultaneously your government as well as an incorporation.

  • There are many antibarking devices on the market. We use an ultrasonic device (freestanding, not a collar) but click on antibarking on your computer and you will find many different types and suppliers. Because you have a specific barking problem you might consider a device that has a hand remote control rather than on a timer. By the way, ultrasonic devices are not usually recommended for indoor use.References :

  • very nice and economical tab.dear where this device is available.post me it is address in faisalabad.thanks fraz

  • This is ridiculous, military’s job is defending the country, not producing tablet computers for profit. No wonder Pakistan is such a mess, too many folk are ready to worship and justify anything the Faujis do.

  • Can we attach usb mini keyboard with PAC-PAD and i want to know can i use facebook on it and other social networks like google plus…is it connected with ANDROID MARKET(Google Play shop). because i want to buy it

  • atleast our army is doing something we must appriciate them they are taking good brains every year via selection making engineers technologists so we shoould take benefit frm them. if we are making jets and tanks and other technologies and offered to sell them to other countries then everyone appriciate that move then y not this if they are trying to provide cheap things to its nation.and by the way the army who is protecting at border includes the soilders and low ranked jawaans. the engineers and technologists are just enjoying the life in their offices.
