PTCL today announced the availability of its Smart TV, the IPTV service, as a standalone product and package.
With this offer, PTCL customers can avail Smart TV services without subscribing to Broadband services, or those customers who already had Broadband services can subscribe to Smart TV as a stand alone product and can discontinue broadband services if they don’t require them.
In this package customer is not provided internet – and hence is also not charged for internet – making it more affordable and convenient. This package has an added advantage of unlimited calls on Sunday from PTCL Landline to Landline & Vfone.
Package Tariff:
- This Package offers Smart TV with Zero Kbps BB, in Rs. 450.
- Rs. 199 for monthly rental for landline phone will also be charged.
- STB and VOD charges would remain same as that of Normal Smart TV connection.
STB and VOD Charges:
- STB (Set Top Box): 4999/- One Time cost
- STB (Set Top Box) / instalment: 250/- month for 2 years – for Instalments
- VOD service is being charged to all existing and new Smart TV customer with the following two options:
- A). Rs 25 per movie for 24 Hours; Customers can subscribe to a movie at Rs. 25 and can watch/re-watch that movie multiple times within the next 24 Hours
- B). Rs 300 fixed per month for any 30 movies of their choice and available in the list within a period of one month.
Terms:
- This offer can be availed by all the existing and new PSTN customers only
- Customers who already have broadband installed, can downgrade to this package
- This package comes with all IPTV features
- This package comes with a wired modem for IPTV connectivity
- Package option ‘A’ for VOD will be readily available on all existing and new Smart TV Connections with subscription
- Package option ‘b’ can be activated by calling at the PTCL contact centre

Smart TV is a great service, specially its Pause and Rewind feature is awesome.
There is an Android application for Smart TV with 30 day free stream. I don’t have a subscription so I cannot try it.
I think PTCL’s smart tv has the best channels. The show RT News,CCCTV and also have a variety of National GEO, Adventure, Wild etc. The variety in all gnres distinguishes PTCL from the run of the mill cable tv channels. And of course the ability to rewind a channel is amazing specially on the moview channels
It’s still very expensive compared to other cable & 5000 for STB :(
Can anyone share his experience with PTCL Smart TV because I’ve heard sometimes it starts buffering like watching online videos on internet is it true?
And can we use it on more than 1 TV sets?

Does using Smart TV have any effect on download speeds and latency ? I’m tired of local kachra cable tv so looking for alternatives.
Not at all if you have a good DSL line, preferably Fiber based. I’ve been using from quite a while now over Fiber based line without any issue. Let me try to explain what they actually do:
SmarTV requires 4Mbps bandwidth to work perfectly, So they configure 4Mbps profile for you at first place. Any additional Internet bandwidth would raise this profile accordingly, e.g., I have 2Mbps Internet with SmarTV that makes a total of 6Mbps profile on my Modem. Now here is the catch…..6Mbps is a hefty amount of bandwidth and if you lack a good Media. I wouldn’t recommend even think about SmarTV. Because PTCL people won’t tell you while installation, they just need to sell their product and they will. You will be left with a new headache in your life, believe me PTCL’s after sales services are pathetic. If all goes well, there is no match of PTCL SmarTV in terms of channel quality.
I’m already on fiber so that wouldn’t be an issue plus my downstream rate is already 6mb even though I’m on a 2mb connection.

don’t subscribe it.i have used it there is 2 to 3 sec delay in switching the channel..plus there is lot of bull shit for disconnecting it..
