For long we know that PTCL is offering FTTH over GPON for high speed broadband services, however, it was only recently that above given advertisement was spotted by a WiredPakistan user at Centauros in Islamabad.
The advertisement clearly reveals that PTCL is offering 100 Mbps broadband internet over FTTH. PTCL hasn’t disavowed the advertisement but there is no mention of any such service on company’s official website.
PTCL first hinted the deployment of GPON and high speed broadband back in 2009 and later on we learnt that KHL was deploying the network for the company. Now it is confirmed that services are being offered to high-end corporate clients in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
FTTH and FTTB (Fiber to the home & Fiber to the Building) services from PTCL allows its customers to enjoy a whooping 100 Mbps broadband internet.
PTCL, when inquired about the service and details, said that this super-natural broadband service (by Pakistani standards) is offered to select customers in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, while the cost of service varies depending on customers’ needs and situations.
PTCL said that such services are also availed by buildings/communities to offer internet to their inhabitants.
Those who are interested to get 100 Mbps broadband can contact corporate sales channels to know further details on the service.
ptcl 1 mb net is so pathetic , going to 100 mb is meaning less …
Genius!!
It will definitely be faster bro, trust me, there is logic behind it. The speed seems awesome, will have to wait and see, what will be the cost. Otherwise seems like a good step.
agreed with you
yes ,
There is a great difference between 1 mb and 100 mb. Have used 1 mb net without any hassles. So PTCL 100 MB would sound amazing with blazing speed ever.
bitch plz first 1mb epic fail
I bet Youtube still won’t work on it.
Agreed
Agreed.. i was facing the same issue thats why i switched to LINKdotNET.. and now using it since last 3 years and facing no issues at all.. believe me.. and their customer support is really fabulous.. :) contact me @ fb.com/sehanhasan and you will get Rs 500 discount also.. :)
WOW Copper lines handle kar nahi sakte, aur Home level pe Fibre connection denge
fibre to wired conversion ki device/modem khi users ko he kharidna hona hoga :D
We just returned our DLS modem permanently to PTCL after using for 3+ years & with Last 1.5 months with daily disconnection issue atleast 5 times a day
Last month disruptions were caused by the underwater cable issue. If you used it for 3 yrs than you must have been satisfied. Copper lines are a poor medium, fiber optic will make a difference no matter how hard anyone denies it!!!
I think what PTCL is doing, is always helpful and practical.
I would differ
The thing is, that we are never satisfied with anyone, but at least we should appreciate if something good is happening around us.
In Lahore initially this service is only for Gulberg, and in Gulberg only for some Plazas. Till the latest their vendor who was deploying this has already left the project, like their vendor who ran away before the completion of VDSL project.
Brain Net is providing much more superior and reliable services since a long time for 100Mbps & 1Gbps Ultra High Speed Internet.. FTTH and FTTB for Corporate Sector in Lahore!
But I think PTCL offerings would be proved best as it is giving FTTH over GPON and 100 Mbps is the best part of it. Its a good step by PTCL.
So it means we all shud move our businesses to Lahore, Brain net should expand and improve their services I know how good they r stop propagating lies!!!
This is totally fake. PTCL only provide FTTB services. Their Last mile cable is usually copper. FTTH services are offered by the following operators:
Nationwide:
1) Multinet
2) LDN
3) Wateen
Rwp/Islamabad
1) Nayatel
2) Multinet
3) Supernet
4) Comsats
Tried almost all of the culprits on the list. This list should be sent to the CJP, so that they should be tried for giving poor service. I got sick of them thats why I shifted to PTCL. It has been working fine till now lets hope it stays like that!!!
CJP will forward it to PTA and that’s a dead end.
Sorry…but Multinet shouldn’t be on the list. They are strictly B2B and do not provide residential service over FTTH.
Please run a spell check before publishing articles.
whoever says PTCL is so pathetic, needs to repair his phone line. I am a very old user of PTCL. and having 4Mbps.. and trust me It is awesome! I’ve shared 4Mbps among more than 10 people. and I’ve seen such people who are using 50Mbps PTCL Internet, and they’re happy. If you’re having some issues that does not mean PTCL is pathetic. You need to call phone line man to repair issues in your line i.e noising, disturbance etc. You just need higher SNR. Pick your handset, and feel noising etc.
Now that’s another point if you say Line man never does anything.. You need to make a good relationship with Line man ;)
PTCL is the service provider of NADRA for secure network, (over VPN) and it works seamless specially in off-peak hours when it just takes a fraction of seconds for page update and bandwidth is also awesome.
for those people who have not used corporate connections, be aware that priority level is much more different for personal and corporate customers. If my office line is creating problem then complain will be launched by our HQ to PTCL HQ who will immediately diagnose the problem. normal customers are of less importance and profitable for PTCL therefore problems arises. EVO for personal use is also working fine…
PTCL Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha PTCL…………………
PTCL ……. !!!!!!!!!!! Please dont make stupid jokes yarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……..
are they ever going to improve Quality rather then speeds? They Should work toward better latency. it helps more then anything
I think the quality is better than others, it takes time to change the old rotten infrastructure we are still using, PTCL is upgrading it but will take time. Moreover, our pc`s and the VPN`s on them are also a big reason for slow speed.
21st century joke.
even they cannot manage 1mbps…..
too ridiculous
Does out national pipes broad enough for companies to offer and provide such exciting bandwidths..?
100 Mbps on FTTH for home customers??? o.O Time for a telecom lesson people especially those who say they are using 100 Mbps in their homes. GUESS WHAT??? YOUR NOT!!! The Mbps stands for Mega Bits per second and Not repeat NOT Mega Bytes per second.
8 bits = 1 Byte, 1024 Bytes = 1 Kilo Byte(KB),
1024 Kilo Bytes = 1 Mega Byte(MB), 1024 Mega Bytes = 1 Giga Byte(GB).
BTW Mega also means Million. The 100 Mbps that’s shown in your internet connection properties is the total feasible capacity (bandwidth) of your LAN cable to transfer data. This is not your subscriber connection package speed (1 Mbps, 2
Mbps, 3.1 Mbps package etc). Many CPE devices such as wireless routers, DSL
routers or modems or wingle devices have 26 Mbps, 54 Mbps or 9 Mbps written on them. This is their maximum possible capacity (bandwidth) to process and route internet traffic to and from your computer, and again not your subscriber
connection package.
Now this is what the awam gets:
For example
a 1 Mbps connection = 1000000(1 Million bits per second)
Convert 1Mbps into Kilo Bytes:
We know that 1 KiloByte(KB) = 1024×8(bits) = 8192 bits
Therfore to convert 1 million bits per second to Kilo bytes (KB) per second and divide it with 8192 bits.
1 Mbps = 1000000/8192 = 122.07 Kilo Bytes per second (KB/sec)
This around 122 KB/sec and is the normal data download rate you should be getting during your downloads on a 1 Mbps connection and what you pay for. For PTCL 1Mbps cost is 1250 Rs/Month.
If you were really getting 100Mbps then you would also be getting the data download rate for:
100 Mbps = 100000000/8192 = 12207.03 Kilo Bytes per second (KB/sec)
= 12 Mega Bytes(MB) per second.
Oh and you can also multiply the cost by 100.
1250 Rs x 100 = 125000 Rs per month.
The ONU (Optical Network Unit) cabinets deployed by ptcl in various areas connect the backbone fiber with the old copper based area distribution boxes, which in turn are distributed to the home customers. These old cabinets should have been replaced by these ONUs. This is not FTTH but Fiber to the Cabinet (FTTC) and a very bad one at that. Even for FTTC the copper based telephone lines should be directly terminated in the ONUs but that’s for selected customers. ONUs have their own media coverters called Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) that will transfer the area telephone lines to the fiber medium. This jugar with the old cabinets plus the wire gaccha inside them are the reasons for frequent internet disconnections because the lineman mafia will never ever want to replace them. Those people whose telephone lines are directly terminated in the ONU will get a Signal to noise ratio(SNR) of around or less than 35 dB and also receive Constant Bit Rate (CBR) download speeb. Meaning if for 1 Mbps connection you are receiving 122 KB/sec it will remain that for a long time during the download and very rarely change on account of SNR. Other than that you will be getting Variable bit rate (VBR) where you downloading speed varies between different quantities (122 KB/s then suddenly 60KB/s and so on). You will also be getting an SNR much greater than 35 dB.
anybody using PTCL 100Mbps or 50Mbps connection?
