Warid Increases Maintenance Fee on Balance Loads to 5%

Warid has announced that it will start deducting 5 percent on all card recharges and reloads from December 11th, 2013.

Previously all other operators had imposed and then increased similar charges they deduct on card recharges and reloads. It is now Warid has followed the pattern to increase charges on reloads.

Not to forget, government had increased Withholding Tax on telecom services from 10 percent to 15 percent from this July, that is deducted at the time of card recharges and loads.

Warid Telecom, in a notice appearing on its website, said:

Dear Customers, maintenance fee will be revised to 5% on all recharges through scratch cards and WaridLoad from 11th December 2013. Thank you

Telecom consumers are paying over 35 percent of their loads as taxes or service charges. Consumers have repeatedly urged the regulator and government to revise these additional charges and taxes on cellular and other telecom services. However it appears that authorities aren’t doing much for their relief.


  • bhai sahib… har cheez ki cost barhti ja rahi hay lakin awam ko sasty call and sms packages chaheain.. companies sasty packages offer kr ky paisy ghar sy nahi lay kr aayn gi.. yahi say paisay pury krny hoty hain…
    call rates agar up nahi jain gy to recharge deduction increase to hon gi.. we people don’t accept realities..
    i think call and sms rates should be revised instead of such bullshit at all..even it is second options for companies to meet their expenses…

    • agreed bilal…its better k sms bundles r per hour call pakgz khrm kr k per min and per sms rates implement keay jie r maintenance charges r service charges kharm kr da..tb awam ki tybiat sahe ho jie ge…woteva u do paki ppl wud cry 4 cheaper n cheaper services ignoring da fact k bhai petrol diesel r utilities mehnge hote ha to in companies ki cost b barh jate ha log smjte ha boosters r equipment hawa pe chalta ha…

  • Taxes should be levied on the company, not to the mobile holder. and PTA should have some intelligence (may be they have to out-source it) to check each Telecom Office and order that taxes are not to be forwarded to customer under any heading.

    But as PTA and telecom are working as friends like PML and PPP, its not going to happen.

  • Dears, I feel we should accept it and at the same time should decrease our usage of cellular to cut down our cost. I think PTCL & Internet can a good alternate.

  • On a positive note, thank God they didn’t do it in the name of ‘Improving service quality’ this time
