Pakistan’s mobile subscribers have been waiting for some time to experience high speed mobile internet on their smartphones and other 3G enabled devices.
Now, barring any unforeseen complications, cellular operators are all set to tussle amongst each other to win 3G and 4G licenses.
The 3G and 4G license auction is planned for the 23rd April; hopefully, the ultimate winners of this auction will be the mobile subscribers.
In most parts of the world, 3G and 4G services are used to stream videos, video calling and remaining in touch with the world while on the go. However, with a ban on YouTube, video streaming might be a challenge in Pakistan, but of course there are alternatives like Dailymotion.
We at ProPakistani would like you to tell us, through the poll set up below, for what purpose you will be using your 3G service; or if you are not planning to avail this service at all.

dear i am using Evo 3G 3.1mbps
In my area, there is no EVO signal tower.No PTCL DSL,no Wateen and no Wi-Tribe.But all the five operator’s signal strength is above 95% :)

according to a survey only 5% people of Pakistan own smartphones & that too mostly 3G enabled. its my thought.
You mean currently approximately 7 Million mobiles are confirmed 3G supported. I think its good start for 3G operators. As per my observation now every mobile above price tag of 4K are 3G equipped and I think at least 20 millions phones are 3G enabled.

like iPhone we have facetime and android hangout but both can not communicate with each other …
i wud like to know thru 3/4 G services, which CNG station has less cars in queue, which road has less traffic at particular time, navigation services, which ATM is working/faulty, get appointment of some doctor, etc. I think this wat 3/4 G is all about!!

When i was searching on internet one company in India is giving 2mbps speed 15 gb data usage limit and is charging 1800 rupees for that.

Hello Brother! Just 1Gb is enough to use navigation for the entire month.And 1GB data will be 250 to Rs.300.I know at the time of start, the packages will be expensive but later it will be cheap (because competition will be tough among cellular operator).Think +ve Yar!

Guys, don’t get excited by 3G or 4G.. Telecom companies are only here to loot the general and innocent public by these attractive packages and senseless commercials. What you guys will do if these companies introduce package with heavy cost?? it is clearly not for general public to get benefited with this 3G or 4G.

You think they will launch too expensive packages so that no one will use them? They are going to pay MORE THAN $200 million over the next few years for the licence. It’s in their interest to get more users, not restrict prices so only a few can afford it.
Of course it will cost more than EDGE packages, but not sky high as some people believe.

I will use 3g service mostly for video steaming (tutorial videos). Another good use for me is to watch live TV in order to keep update myself in current affairs anytime.

I will use 3G for education purpose.In the subject of Biology and Chemistry, there are many topic which you cannot understand without animation.In my area, there is no fast internet available. That is why I am extremely waiting for 3G and 4G.

If pricing is competitive along with reasonable caps (no stupid 1GB caps) and speed in between 2-5 Mbps, I’ll ditch DSL for good.

I m from the Telecom field and remember that 3G and 4G does not have good future in Pakistan. Reason1: Arriving very late. Reason2: This country knows what internet/broadband is.
When this circus ends, “This country knows what internet/broadband is” will be left standing on a huge sign board. Kudos for summing it all up for me. :)
Its very strange that Social Media is competing with Education. And Video call is on top.. That’s why were are far behind form other country never focus on education.

Only 2% people will not use 3G. Because they don’t have 3G enable phones or other reason may be a price. Many people are thinking that 3G and 4G price will touch to the sky. But the competition among the five operators will be tough and price will flow down gradually.
3G , 4G experience will be awesome.
Switch on the data , download documents fast , google anything , make calls , mms , internet , videos , facebook , linkedin , e-mails. anything anywhere you want.
I will INSHA’ALLAH use 4G if it will be in my budget but I fear about price.. I think it will be around 2K per month for 3G and 3K per month for 4G or even more.
