Survey Endorses Certification and Accreditation Initiative of PSEB: Ministry of IT

MINISTER OF STATE FOR IT MRS.ANUSHA RAHMAN WHILE CHAIRING PSEB 24th BOD MEETING

As per a recent survey conducted by Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to get the feedback of the IT industry regarding certifications and accreditations initiative, 80% of the stakeholders have given positive feedback and endorsed this endeavor of the Ministry of IT.

The survey included questions, pertaining to the need of subsidized international IT certifications, independent quality assurance lab for software products, PSEB accreditation to certify IT companies on selected standards of CMMI, ISO9001, ISO27001, ITIL, and ISO20000.

Various ongoing projects of PSEB were under discussion as The Federal Minister of IT Ms. Anusha Rehman chaired the 24th Board of Directors meeting of PSEB here in Islamabad on Tuesday, 15th of April. Federal Secretary IT, Mr. Ahklaq Ahmad Tarar, MD PSEB Mr. Amir Malik, Financial Advisor (IT) Dr. Nadeem Sahfiq and other officials of PSEB were also present there.

The Board of Directors meeting was convened to review the progress of different ongoing projects of PSEB. The MD PSEB gave a detailed presentation regarding the road map of certification and accreditation programme of IT companies. In view of stakeholders’ interest, the Minister directed PSEB management to pursue this plan vigorously for standardization of Pakistan’s IT industry following all codal formalities.

The roadmap includes establishment of a separate cell at PSEB for development and implementation of management systems, development of pool of competent auditors etc for award of accreditation.

The Minister of IT further said that PSEB is a vital organ of the Ministry of IT and it needs to be more vibrant and productive for the nourishment of Pakistan IT industry.
