Naeem Zamindar, CEO of Wateen Telecom, is reportedly engaged with an NGO namely “Art of Living”, for which he is alleged to have influenced company employees for enrolment.
Art of Living claims to relieve individual stress, societal problems, and violence through various exercises. This organization, having chapters in various countries is headed by Mr. Ravi Shankar, a Hindu spiritual leader, who was once ranked by Forbes as 5th most influential leader in India.
Mr. Ravi Shankar – having extremist Hindu sentiments – has visited Pakistan to commence “Art of Living” operations in the country under headship of Mr. Naeem Zamindar.
Art of Living conducts various stress relief courses against a fee for which Mr. Zamindar was found to have asked his colleagues to join the classes.
ProPakistani spoke with over a dozen current and ex-employees of Wateen, who confirmed us that they were asked by the CEO to join and practice “Art of Living”. Few of them agreed that they had joined “Art of Living” – despite they never wanted to – just because of their CEO.
When ProPakistani asked Mr. Zamindar if he ever asked his colleagues for membership of an organization that he chairs, he admitted that he had sent emails to certain employees that were – according to him – his friends.
He explained that Art of Living is a healthy way of living and he was simply asking his friends for something that could help them with their healths and lives.
Some Wateen employees also showed their concerns over Mr. Ravi Shankar – someone who has close ties extremist Hindus including Narendra Modi – having association with a Pakistani organization or with individuals having key positions in Pakistan . They were of the opinion that Islam is a complete religion that offers all sorts of solutions for everything including stress management.
A source at Wateen went on to confirm us that Wateen employees are at risk due to its association with “Art of Living”. Source, who wanted to remain unnamed, told ProPakistani that a life threatening letter has been sent to Wateen employees to avoid “Art of Living” or they may have to face consequences.
