Electric Rickshaws Will Hit The Roads of Pakistan Soon

It seems like a great time for electric vehicles in Pakistan. We are seeing more and more hybrid cards on the street, initiatives aiming to replace motorcycles with E-bikes are gaining steam and now, we will also be seeing the Electric Rickshaw on roads in Pakistan. The new vehicle is called the Z5 E-Tricycle and it is going to be launched by Zar Motors.

The E-Rickshaw looks sleek and visually, it is a step up to the traditional ones we see on the roads currently. It converts sunlight into energy and is expected to have significantly lower running costs.

1

Charging and Mileage:

The biggest issue for electric vehicles is charging and it seems like the Z5 takes care of that nicely. It can be charged through any normal outlet (100V-240V) just like your cellphone. You can charge the battery up to 80% capacity in 2 hours while a full charge would take around 7 hours. The 80% charge will last for about 50 kilometers.

While there is no information about pricing just yet, it’s safe to assume it will cost more than a traditional rickshaw. According to the company’s own estimates, the cost of buying an E-Rickshaw will be paid off in 14 months. The Rickshaw will have capacity for 1 driver and 3 passengers although it can be extended upon request.

2

For major cities like Lahore, the E-Rickshaw could be an amazing replacement. We know that we’d prefer it over regular rickshaws for the noise and air pollution reductions alone.

Khwaja Ahmad Hassan, adviser to CM Punjab, was recently seen testing the Z5 E–Tricycle recently at the CM Office in Lahore. That makes sense since the use of these new vehicles is already covered under the Rozgar scheme by the government. We just hope that the benefits of the E-Rickshaw outweigh the initial costs so that Pakistan can move towards a greener future.

Price and Availability:

The price and availability of the E-Rickshaw are unknown at the moment.

Detailed specs for the Z5 R-Tricycle are provided below:

  • Agr directly bijli sa charge hona ha to in sa khao k apna pass he rakhain hamara pass bigli nai ha, agr solar ka scene ha to phr soch sakta hain

  • koi cheez promot na hone dena pakistaniyo ortoon ki tarah har baat mein tanay bazi bass kardo khuda kay liye!!!!

    • Sir ya to woe baat hoe khana ko roti nai to cake kha lo, Jab bigli he nai ho ge to charge kis sa kara gain, us sa…..

    • Promote? Are you forgetting the cost of electricity in Pakistan? Not to forget … Rickshaws drivers are mostly the lower class, and is considered labor. Do you really think that an 80% Charge which would take 5.6 Hours to complete, would be sufficient to run for just 50 KMs?

Next time fazool baat karne se phele soch lena thora.

        • I appreciate your sense of humor, but you really haven’t thought about it have you. Please do the math for “Cost of Electricity to Charge this thing” vs. “Cost of Petrol per liter + Kilometeres it can cover in that one liter”. Also include the ‘time value of money’ concept too, if you can, or want to.

Petrol will come out to be much cheaper in the long run.

This is nothing but a sashka, giving people something, just NOT what they “NEED”.

          • These days rikshaw drivers argue over petrol prices and then compare the fare … with this change they will have another argument that not only petrol … electricity prices are higher so fare would be on the higher side

          • Please do the math for “Cost of Electricity to Charge this thing” vs. “Cost of Petrol per liter + Kilometeres it can cover in that one liter”.

Did you do the math or did u just assume that in this case petrol is the better option?

            • Good luck spending 5.6 hours to change it to 80%, just to drive it 40kms (and thats ideal figure. Expect it to be even lower in ideal scenario). Even if you account for the time alone, you start to see the real picture.

  • whats the use to passengers when they are going to charge the fares equivalent to petrol rickshaws?

  • whats the use to passengers when they are going to charge the fares equivalent to petrol rickshaws?

    • To tackle this issue, govt. should make a fixed rate fare throughout the country for same type of vehicle. And it should be charged on per kilometer basis.

      • Do you really think ‘pollution’ alone is enough reason for any lower class person ‘trying to make a living’ … to use this Battery Powered Rickshaw?

Loadshedding is high here, prices of electricity are even higher … and this thing would take 7 hours to reach 100% capacity. Its not a toy, or a smartphone, where you’d buy spare batteries so you drive it off, while the ‘backup’ charges.

    • I HOPE there are LESS fares on E-Ricks , in a similar manner as chingchis have subdued Buses while charging max 15 rupees where a bus charges 16-18 rupees…

  • Most of the comments here reflects how difficult is our adaptability as a nation to any new innovation. Always thinking negative and criticizing. Thank God cell phone Pakistan mein ejaad nahi hua warna yeh log kehtey k bekaar cheez hai charge kesey hoga because hamaray pass tu bijli he nahi hai. Aur iphone tu Pakistan mein chal he nahi sakta jiski battery sirf 6 hours chalti ho. Very SAD. We as a nation have to think about what is the long term impact of any of our action today before just taking the decision.

    • Exactly man , most pakistanis dont deserve shit , since they are arrogant bastards. All they think about is, food, politics, lazy shit, extremist religious facets and how to push the other guy down and move up by doing that.
Eastern thinking hasnt evolved yet while Western Thinking is LIGHT YEARS ahead of us! (hence the massive amount of development and innovations there!)
Here you’ll find people willing to push u down on the ground and step on your body to move ahead and make progress.
Your views truly reflect what has become of Pakistani society and the eastern mindset.

P.S : many people MIGHT reply to this , pointing out my lack of grammar ethics and extreme reprimanding tone. well , all i can say to em , is that they should look around themselves and THEN read this , maybe they’ll understand it better then :D .

    • I agree with you bro, Really. They just focus on -ve side which is embarrassing for us as a nation. They don’t do something on their own and when someone else do they criticize on it. :-(

  • where can drivers charge again after 50 km ? they have to run back to their homes?
any data of electric charging stations? how many you have in your city?
or let me guess, one has to keep generator in his rikshaw to charge again :)

    • Bhai pehlay electric vehicles anay tu do stations bhi ban jayeingay…When the imported vehicles started coming in Pakistan, most of the people didnt buy because there were no or very few mechanics who could repair the efi engine but now they are almost everywhere so just wait and let the technology spread its wings

  • hehehe! Petrol Rickshaw then CNG Rickshaw & now Electric Rickshaw!? yaani rickshaw for everyone, for every place, for any need.. :D aalaaaaa

  • SIrf rickshaw hi chalatay rahengay saray pakistani, jisay dekho moon utha k rickshaw le kar road pe ajata hai.

Koi dhang ki cheez nahi hoti pakistan me

  • Impossible thing, Agr iss size ki solar plate se riksha chal skta hai to pora ghar be ba asaani chal sake ga, mera ni khyal ke esa kuch mumkin hai

  • That’s really nice to know that latest inventions are coming on roads and streets of Pakistan to replace noisy vehicles on the roads.

  • one more thing our nation is forgetting forever is.. …….pollution. please just once time think about our health and envirement that we are going to leave for our upcoming generation

  • Yaar Z5 shape is cool, don’t worry your will be welcome in the market. But work more on your design to reduce the weight more and topspeed 40km/h is just a traffic non-sense atleast improve it to 70 km/h.Also try to built a body of Z5 strong enough for commercial use.If you built it expansive a big investor can buy,it doesn’t matter, but if this machine can run for 5 years in good shape, that matter’s alot .What about the back suspension, its hard or comfortable enough. Still there are option to put more solar sheet on rakshaw and to use more hp motor. At how much slope the rakshaw can keep going 20 degree or 30 degree .If you want to improve the shape and weight i can help you too.
