Google Releases Top Searches for 2014

It’s that time of the year when Google announces its top searches of the year. The list, dubbed the “Year in Search” consists mainly of familiar names and subjects from worldwide.

As was expected, the most-searched query of the year was the death of Robin Williams, alongside the FIFA World Cup in Brazil and Ebola virus. The list also includes several new categories such as Consumer Electronics (topped by the iPhone 6), top Google Doodles of 2014 and most-popular YouTube videos. (In case you don’t know, Google owns YouTube.)

The search details are also more minute. They go deeper and display how a particular news story also led to the increase in search of another story. Material Design is also at play in the design of this website.

The searches also, obviously, break down by country. In Pakistan, too, topping the most trending list among people was Robin Williams. Top searches include ARY News Live, Express Live and PTV Sports, showing that people are getting more and more into live streaming.
