Youth is the one of the drivers of success in any country, specially in Pakistan where half the population is between 18 and 35 years old. Their creativity, passion and talent contribute to the success of the nation and they go on to become the next best artists, designers, entrepreneurs and so much more. Many of them have the knowledge but are in need of a platform to showcase their skills. NXTGEN Winter Camp by Peshawar 2.0 seems to offer just that.
What is Peshawar 2.0?
This social setup operates with the aim of creating a startup community in the city of Peshawar that is incubated with BaseCamp Peshawar. The idea is to encourage youth to exercise their skills of creativity and innovation to rebuild the city. Regardless of the background, it offers individuals the opportunity to become problem solvers and create more opportunities for others.
What is NXTGEN Winter Camp 2015?
Led by youth for the youth, NXTGEN Winter is a movement meant for training aspiring artists, designers, entrepreneurs and scientists out there. The hands-on training offered at this accelerated-learning camp will surely empower individuals with the awareness and skills necessary to achieve their long-term goals. It’s also a great means of connecting with like-minded people and share the knowledge.
When Does it Take Place?
The Winter Camp is scheduled to last a total of 5 days, starting from 16th February to 20th February.
What is the Age Limit?
There isn’t any. Ideally, you must be a student of grade 5 or older regardless of your field of study. Teens studying in class 5 to 10 are especially encouraged to apply. Regardless, what’s mainly required of you is self-motivation and the willingness to learn and challenge yourself.
What Sort of Workshops Are There?
There are a wide range of workshops planned for NXTGEN Winter Camp 2015. These include: Adobe Photoshop, Calligraphy, Freelancing, Blogging, Bio Technology Skills, Mobile Game Development, Coding for teenagers, Website creation in WordPress and many more.
Are There Any Scholarships on Offer?
Peshawar 2.0 has offered Rs. 300,000 worth of scholarships for the training camp. They will be awarded to the participants on the basis of merit decided by a selection panel. The deadline passed on the 8th of February and the successful applicants will be announced on 10th February, 2015.
Can One Take Further Part Once It’s Over?
Peshawar 2.0 plans on mentoring selected graduates once they are inducted as NXTGEN Fellows upon the completion of the Winter Camp. They will accompany the core team on various projects such as network development of NXTGEN clubs in schools and colleges.
