Zong HR Meets Potential Employees at LUMS & IBA

Keeping in view the need to expand and bring in fresh minds the Zong HR team recently visited the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi to participate in their recruitment events as a means of developing a nexus between the academic and the corporate world.

HR representatives met with a considerable number of participants in the IBA Career Fair as well as one-on-one sessions at the LUMS Networking Night.

The Zong team discussed the Graduate Trainee Program, which is an initiative to help nurture fresh graduates and helps groom each candidate in various areas within the organization. Over 150 graduate trainees have been hired over the last 2 years and today each of these trainees is a key member within the organization. Other prospective career opportunities along with the working culture and industry dynamics were discussed with the attending students.

Tehmina Khurram, Director Human Resources, Zong, said

“The events, in addition to being Employer Branding platforms, gave us an opportunity to learn from the emerging generation of business professionals. The freshness of ideas shared in the forums reaffirm our faith in a brighter future. It also sets into perspective our efforts towards inspiring the next generation of digital technology users through a people centric strategy.”

The telecom industry is one of the most attractive sectors for prospective candidates. Due to the focus of the company on skillful resources, these events will be followed by various other upcoming endeavors aimed at providing students with more assistance and direction in this regard.

  • LUMS/ IBA guys must have dropped the idea of joining immediately after meeting zongs HR

    • At least I had these thoughts right after meeting couple of people at career fair. They weren’t even sure what they are selling to students. There is something called Employer Branding and they couldn’t exhibit a bit of it.

  • No offense, that’s the good initiative but in Pakistan LUMS or IBA are not the only institutes, there are other universities as well.

  • why not other universities?there might be colleges as well affiliated from PUNJAB university for MBA MCOM….

  • From personal experience as a (professional) candidate who visited Zong HQ recently I can say Zong’s HR is certainly not the brightest pearl out there. I’m in the recruitment business myself and can easily tell apart those who can sell whatever they have to offer to prospects from those who cant, and don’t even bother to try. Zong needs to put some serious effort on this front. It would also be nice to see them visit other universities in ISB and Lahore. You want talent you won’t necessarily find it at LUMS or IBA.

  • Zong is hunting for cream, in cream pot ? it would be more better to hunt the talent from low profile universities….

  • The approach adopted was against the policy of providing equal opportunity. The must have gone to other universities in Lahore as well.
