With Windows 10 Mobile set to be released in the coming few months, Microsoft has revealed the list of phones which will get the coveted update first. While the list is decidedly large, since almost all Windows Phone 8 models are included, it is understandable that the newly-released ones will be the first to get it.
They are as follows:
- Lumia 430
- Lumia 435
- Lumia 532
- Lumia 535
- Lumia 540
- Lumia 640
- Lumia 640 XL
- Lumia 735
- Lumia 830
- Lumia 930
The most common seem pattern here is that these phones were among the latest Windows Phones to be released. The list includes the cheapest Lumias ever (430 and 435) to one of the most popular of recent times: the Lumia 535.
The list is missing names such as the flagship Lumia 1520. It is also missing the most popular Windows Phone of all time: the Lumia 520. Those phones should get the update eventually but it will take some time before that happens. Microsoft has also refrained from announcing the release date of Windows 10 Mobile. While the PC version of the OS has just been released, when the Mobile version goes to users remains a total mystery.
It is widely suspected that the soon-to-be-announced Lumias 950 and 950 XL will be the first to ship with the OS. Again no release date there but we should hear more in the coming few weeks. Stay tuned!
