To Promote Tourism, KPK Government Advertises a Website That Doesn’t Open

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government last week published an advertisement about their tourism department in top tier national newspapers (including Jang Newspaper) to announce that provincial government guest houses can now be booked/rented by the general public.

KPK advertisements, cost of which would be in millions, were primarily aimed at encouraging general public to book provincial government owned guest houses and they even mentioned a website for online booking to ease up the whole process.

But unfortunately, the website simply doesn’t open.

KPK

Ask about the magnitude of this blunder from any private organization and you will come to know how brutal and criminal it is to publish an ad in papers with a wrong website URL or with a dysfunctional website URL.

We have talked over and again about lack of interest from government institutes towards their websites. No wonder our official websites are of almost no value and look and feel of majority of official websites is from late 90’s, if not before.

At a time when we are talking about Digital Pakistan and where internet penetration is growing YoY in three digits figure, such apathy towards internet and websites is beyond comprehension.

You have to wonder why government institutes just overlook the benefits of their online presence and why they don’t hire professionals to maintain, run and operate their websites.

This is just an indication of these gentlemen sitting in assemblies and not understanding the importance of internet. But, if we want to prosper as a country, this has to change. This has to change at earliest.

Below is KPK ad published in newspapers on October 16th, 2015:

  • Oh bhai yeh kia hai. lagta hai pashto mein likha howa hai.
Oh yeh kaisi tabdeeli hai bhai………… :)

    • lol i just googled it and it means” live yeast”. that’s Latin as per search. They made it in a hurry so they forgot to remove the stuff from the template. what an idiot webmaster.

  • Tckpbookings.com doesnt open at all (Not found error) while kptourism.com still has Lorem ipsum text and no hyperlinks at all. LOL

  • This was indeed a blunder but the main tourism website (https://kptourism.com/) is working. BTW, the correct website is tckpbooking and not “bookings”.
Though @aamer7, all three websites from KPK government are pretty modern and utilise the latest design language. Compared to other provinces, or even federal government websites, most KP websites have improved a lot.
You are right in saying that proper internet presence is necessary for the governments. Hope other local governments realise this soon and KPK too, redesigns whichever websites have been left behind.

    • Waow…. ProPakistani posted it without proper research. They said Government site is not working instead they should simply say it is mistake in printing / advertisement.

  • Come On !
    Give them a Break !

It is just a slightly printing mistake http://www.tckpbooking.com is the correct url.
There is just an extra “s” in the URL right after “booking” that made the wrong URL in advertisement.

And by the way this website is nothing like the 90s. Not even close to our typical official websites.

The moment you open that website a pleasent music plays in the background, Nice and smooth interface with simple and classic design.

LOL It’s even better built than ProPakistani Website, don’t take it personal please propakistani has it’s own value that’s why we visit it regularly ;)

    • Wohi tu, yeh choti si printing mistake kisi private company say hoti tu kitnay log fire hotay, do you have any idea?

      • Yes definitely you are absolutely right. A mistake is a mistake no matter what.

But let’s just give them a chance as they are starting something new and our government don’t really take steps like this and we can see their efforts from their website. Hopefully, They will get mature with time and experience. It’s our job to appreciate and motivate these kind of new initiatives so we can compete one day with European countries, inshaAllah :)

      • @Aaamir apni mistake to accept karo. Tum apne blog ki value loose karte ja rahe ho. hehheheheh

    • Jaldi kaam Mani Mental ka………….us nay socho Naya pakistan to bana nahin Nai Website Jaldi say bana do.

  • “/booking” is entered by you in your post.
    bhai khuda ka koof kro.
ye link advertisement mein kaha hai?
Hope you ignore their single ‘S’ mistake and try to remove your site bugs.
Many bugs also found in your site try to remove them or fire your employee from company?

  • Jaldi kaam Mani Mental ka………….us nay socho Naya pakistan to bana nahin Nai Website Jaldi say bana do …. ha ha ha

  • Aamir, you need to research the topic before you start something. Honestly, you are loosing the ground.
