Pakistan’s First Legal Music App ‘Taazi’ is Now On Telenor Apps Store

Taazi, a mobile application from Taazi.com, Pakistan’s first legal music website, is now available on Telenor Apps store providing Telenor Pakistan customers legal access to quality Pakistani music on their mobile devices.

Taazi app, launched in August 2015, attempts to create a revolution in the Pakistani music industry by giving power back to the artists. Taazi provides a platform to Pakistani artists to distribute and sell their songs to fans legally. The total registered users on both the App and Website amount to 150,000, making Taazi Pakistan’s no.1 ranked music platform and social network.

With a customer base of over 33 million and 3G subscriber base nearing 6 million, Telenor Pakistan has garnered the largest internet user base in the country. With the Taazi app available on Telenor Apps store, Telenor Pakistan’s user base will now have access to one of Pakistan’s first legal music apps without additional internet or data charges, where they will be able to access, listen, and legally download over 100,000 Pakistani songs.

Streaming on Taazi is free for the users but they must pay to download songs. Taazi is generating sales well into the tens of thousands of rupees. This way they are supporting the local artist community as well as the music industry. Established and upcoming musicians alike have started earning from putting their content on Taazi. This shows that their unique payment method, paying by cellular phone credit, has found significant traction.

Taazi is not only a music distribution platform, it is also a music-based social network with a user-friendly interface, allowing users to communicate and follow friends to see what they are listening too. Users can stream and download music, invite friends, create personalized playlists, share songs on their Facebook wall, follow artists and interact with each other.

Taazi is currently available for iOS and Android platforms. To download Taazi, please visit: http://apps.telenor.com.pk/

    • Patari doesn’t let you download songs yet. But its not illegal per se I think that’s what author meant here.

    • This article doesn’t say that Taazi is the only legal music website. It simply says that Taazi is the “first” such website. Although Patari was developed earlier but it was running in closed beta and its public release was later than Taazi. When Taazi was publicly launched, everyone could use it but at that time Patari was not available for everyone.

  • Thought Patari was the first and legal….would you do a comparison between the two. It seems they are head on

    • Taazi is first in terms of launching, they launched their website in 2014 and apps in august 2015 before patari

  • It’s available on the Android App Store as well.

The app’s good but the icon (lol) and the parts of the design need work. And maybe even Chromecast support in the future!

  • HIGHLy encouraging indicator for IPR in Pakistan, with hats up to Telenor. Pakistan. Followings to Pakistan’s honor.
