Faster, Roomier & Exciting: This is the Suzuki Swift Sport 2018

Suzuki has finally unveiled its all-new Swift Sport at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The hot-hatch has received a number of interior, exterior and mechanical changes when compared with the standard Suzuki Swift variant.

After the launch, the Swift Sport chief engineer Masao Kobori said that customers value a dynamic driving experience above everything else, which is why Suzuki has focused on delivering that.

Kobori said:

We have made the new Swift Sport lighter, faster and more stimulating in every way. The sporty Swift gets a new redesigned front grille and bumper, the aerodynamic front-lip spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser and roof-end spoiler makes it a whole different car than the regular Suzuki Swift.

Without further ado, lets have a deeper look at the Suzuki Sport.

Exterior

To remain true to the word Sport, the Japanese manufacturer has revised the overall looks of the Suzuki Sport, which now boasts the trademark hot-hatch looks.

The front has been significantly modified with large and aggressive cuts in the bumper. Front grille has also been revised along with a splitter, which allows the car to achieve a more sportier nose.

Side skirts have been lowered and alloy-wheels are also fitted in the vehicle. From the back, it is much similar to the old Swift. In fact, there’s a black diffuser with two large exhaust exists.

Overall, the vehicle appeals to the eye and when you consider the 80kg drop in its weight despite its size being increased, it is a phenomenal effort from Suzuki.

Interior

Inside, the cabin has gotten a sporty upgrade — which goes nicely with all the performance upgrades. Sports seats have been introduced along with red dials and plenty of other small yet sporty details.

Since Sport is going to be the flagship product for the Suzuki Swift brand, it is expected to equipped with the company’s latest interior and technology options. It will include a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, an elegant 4.2-inch display in between the dials.

For music lovers, it will support Bluetooth phone and music streaming. Moreover, it will also support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Engine

The Swift Sport is powered by the same 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol as the Vitara, with an addition of an extra 10Nm of torque. Claimed outputs are 103W and 230Nm, between 2500 and 3000rpm.

The engine provides the Swift Sport with 138bhp and 230Nm of torque, and sends drive to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

The transmission is the same as past Swift model but has been re-engineered to improve shift smoothness and feedback.

Compared to the current variants, Sport will be significantly more powerful; it has a 82kW/160Nm 1.0-litre turbo-three. The old Swift Sport had a 100kW/160Nm atmo 1.6.

Really? You just post anything whether it is related to Pakistan or not? Pak Suzuki is never going to launch the 3rd gen sports model here. What you guys actually smoke?

    • Well. Pak Suzuki representatives have put forth their request to import the Sport edition of the car. Whether it comes or not, that’s a separate discussion. We’re going on their official word and not people in blog’s comments section.

      • Considering their long history of being uncompetitive and ripping people off, we’ll see how true their word is.

        • That’s a separate debate. I only responded to your criticism regarding the authenticity of news.
