Alongside the Xperia L2, Sony is also updating its previous mid-range phones with the new Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra.
The phones swap MediaTek processors in favor of Qualcomm, come with Oreo out of the box, and finally feature fingerprint scanners.
Design and Display
The Xperia XA2 comes with a slightly-larger 5.2” display with 1080p resolution, and a 16:9 aspect ratio rather than 18:9, as the current industry trend states.
The XA2 Ultra features a larger 6” LCD of the same resolution. The design is the same, metal-based one, and has a fingerprint scanner on the back.
Internals and storage
Under the hood, you get an octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor with Adreno 510, which is shared by the two phones. The XA2 comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB expandable storage, while the Ultra variant comes with 4 GB RAM and an optional 64 GB storage version.
Connectivity options include USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. The XA2 also comes with optional dual-SIM thanks to its hybrid slot. The phones come with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, which has been lightly-customized by Sony.
Camera(s)
The cameras on the two phones are shared for the most part bar the OIS on the XA2 Ultra. On the back sits a 23 MP Exmor RS sensor with 5X Zoom and LED.
The front also boasts an 8 MP Exmor R, wide-angle lens on the XA2 while the XA2 ultra has a dual 16+8 MP setup.
This is a first for Sony as the company hasn’t used dual cameras on any of its phones yet. The 16 MP sensor has OIS while the other one doesn’t
Battery and Price
The battery capacity on the XA2 is set at 3300 mAh, while on the XA2 Ultra it is upped to 3580 mAh.

battery life would be good as sony phones have been well optimized and these have slightly bigger batteries
The placement of finger print scanner used to be great when it was on the side of the phone like in Xperia Z5. Don’t know why the shifted to the back like others.
On side, it reduced phone body’s strength
