Lenovo Launches the Flex 14 and Yoga 730 Convertibles with Active Pen

Lenovo has announced two new convertibles at the MWC, the Yoga 730 and Flex 14. While they won’t set the world on fire, they target the upper-end and mid-range segments of the market and add more options to Lenovo’s convertible portfolio.

The main draw here is the new Alexa integration, which will work alongside Windows 10’s Cortana. The laptops come with far-field microphones to capture commands from 18-feet away, apart from supporting Lenovo’s Active Pen stylus.

Use Cortana on your Yoga 730 during the day to schedule meetings, get reminders, search and send emails and manage to-do lists with just your voice. Or just ask to order food, do your shopping, dim the lights and turn up the music at night with Alexa.”

Yoga 730 Design and Display

The Yoga 730 comes in both 13 inch and 15-inch flavors, supporting both FHD and UHD resolution on its touchscreen display. The design is a big difference between the two, with the 13-inch model weighing just 2.5lbs, with the larger model more than 4.1lbs.

Under the hood, you get up to an eighth-generation Core i7 processor, with up to 16 GB RAM on both the models (15-inch model apparently supports DIMMs, too). For storage, you get up to a 512 GB and 1 TB PCIe-based SSD on the smaller and larger models, respectively.

The graphics add another difference, as while the Yoga 730 13 only has an integrated HD 620, the Yoga 730 15 supports up to GTX 1050.

For connectivity, you get 2 USB-C ports, plus one USB 3.0. Battery life is said to last up to 11.5 hours on a single charge. Both come with Wi-Fi ac and audio-jack, with the 15-inch model sweetening the deal further with HDMI.

The pricing of the Yoga 730 starts at $879 for the 13-inch model and $899 for the 15-inch one. Shipping will start this April.

Flex 14

Silver Flex 14

Arguably what the Yoga 530 would be, the Flex 14 comes with a 14-inch 1080p display (not on the base model).

Under the hood, you get up to a Core i7 8th-generation, with 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and up to 512 GB PCIe-based SSD. The graphics here can be customized to a 4 GB DDR5 GeForce MX130.

Audio needs are handled by Harman Speakers with Dolby Premium, while connectivity options include USB-C 3.1, 2 USB 3.0 Type-A, HDMI, headphone jack, and a card reader. Battery life is said to last up to 10 hours.

Pricing starts at $599 for the Flex 14. It will also be available this April.
