Optix Adds Netflix CDN to its Data Center to Make Streaming Faster Than Ever

With the Netflix craze in Pakistan lately – local ISPs are clamoring to improve video streaming for their customers.

Together with others, Optix Pakistan has now partnered with Netflix and set up Netflix CDN Nodes based on their OCA (Open Connect Appliances) architecture at Optix Datacenter in Pakistan.

Netflix serves movies and shows out of their own Content Delivery Network (CDN), which is tailored to provide high bandwidth video streaming in its respective region.

This system is the cornerstone of every Netflix video experience — serving 100% of Netflix videos, over 135 million hours every day, to more than a 100 million subscribers across the globe.

In order to provide the best streaming video experience to its users — with peak traffic of several tens of terabits per second — Netflix deploys and operates thousands of nodes across the globe.

Now, these CDN Nodes are deployed at Optix Data Center in Pakistan where Optix is connected directly with Netflix. As of this day, Netflix CDN Node in Optix Datacenter has started serving a large fraction of the Netflix traffic requested by Optix’s customers.

This architecture benefits Optix by reducing latency and relieving internet congestion while providing Optix Fiber users with high quality, uninterrupted Netflix viewing experience in HD or even in 4K. Expect buffer free, fast and instant viewing experience, thanks to this new development.

What is a CDN?

CDN (Content Delivery Network) are clusters of nodes across the world, sitting close to the users. When the user demands content, it is delivered from the nearest CDN node, hence the delivery remains buffer-free, fast and instant.

The beauty of Netflix CDN is to learn what content users want to watch and what content is going viral, and it preloads all the popular or trending content to the local CDN nodes for an excellent experience every time.

With Netflix CDN stationed inside Optix Datacenters, all the Optix users will experience the next level of service excellence with seamless streaming of Netflix provided content.

  • Optix Fiber Data Center HD or 4K buffering free on FTTH. which would be a fractional ISP’s in Pakistan. I must compliment Optix Fiber Data Center to look and explore other options that could help optimise the VAS for other applications, as live video con., interactive tv., education, class room, interactive trading etc., How soon are we expected for our education on Optix Fiber Data Center.

  • Our lives today are shaped by the web and this being a necessity now. Optix surely knows best to take care of it with good services and catching up with tech for us.

  • The more these ISPs improve, the more competition it will be for PTCL. Like these ISPs forced PTCL to look to make their packages cheaper and we now have 10Mbps for only Rs. 2500. I hope in future these ISPs expand to further areas as their coverage is very small compared to PTCL. Would generate even more competition.
