New Xbox Service Gets You a Console and More for Just $22 a Month

Kind of like how smartphone contracts work, Microsoft has announced a two-year Xbox All Access subscription for gamers for its Xbox One consoles. The subscription plan includes a console of your choice, Xbox Live and Game Pass subscription.

It is priced at just $22 per month for these services with the Xbox One S, with the higher-end Xbox One X subscription costing $35 per month. At the end of the 2-year period, users get to keep the console and have the option to continue with Xbox Live and Game Pass services at their normal price.

Big Savings

There are some savings to be had, compared with buying the console and the two services separately. According to CNET, the cheaper bundle saves you a cool $130 over the 2-year cycle, amounting to $528 instead of $660 for getting all three separately. The bigger deal with the Xbox One X saves you just $20, costing $840 instead of $860.

You won’t have to pay anything upfront if you want, you can start by paying the monthly cost directly. However, users can also pay for the bundle in full in advance if they want, which makes sense for the cheaper model.

However, these deals would lock you into Microsoft’s platform fairly well, and you’d be forced to use the services whether you plan to or not.

For the US Only

The offer is only available in the US as of now and requires the user to pass a credit check for being for the services. It makes use of Dell Preferred Account and Financial Services to handle the monetary aspect of things.

It is not confirmed whether the program will last a long time, as it is said to conclude on Dec. 31, or “while supplies last”. And it also requires the user to make an inquiry, in person, at a Microsoft outlet.
