Railways Announces Alternative Arrangements for Train Commuters

Pakistan Railways has announced alternative route management for the parts of the country, where railway services have not been wholly resumed.

Railways operations had come to a halt following the violent protests erupted across the country after a Supreme Court verdict in a blasphemy case on Wednesday.

“All the trains are running regularly from Karachi to Kot Lakhpat. However, the operations are halted in Lahore,” a statement from the spokesman of Railways said on Thursday.

The statement clarified that the trains that run from Karachi to Lahore would make their final stop at Faisalabad. Same goes for the trains that start the journey from Lahore will run from Faisalabad, until further notice.

However, contrary to the railway department’s statement, Divisional Superintendent Karachi Ishaq Baloch three trains from Karachi including Pakistan Express (Karachi-Rawalpindi), Green Line (Karachi-Islamabad) and Awami Express (Karachi-Peshawar) have been canceled today.

He further said the affected passengers can get the refund from respective railway stations.
