KP Govt Fines Restaurants and Tourists for Littering in Galiyat

How often have you been to Murree and Galiyat only to see heaps upon heaps of garbage and littering on the hills? The trend has seen a worrying increase in recent years, however, the authorities have finally started to enforce fines and do something about the issue.

Multiple restaurants and tourists have been fined by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for littering in Galiyat.

A tweet by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) official Twitter account said, “KP government fined 23 hotels, 18 restaurants, 16 cabins, 6 resident houses and 11 tourists for littering & sanitation offenses in Galiyat”.

A total of PKR 1,43,000 was collected as fine by the Galiyat Development Authority.

It further added, “The drive against the offenders will spread and continue across KP Become a responsible citizen.”

Hopefully, the trend will see a decline in the following years. Nobody wants to head out to the northern areas only to be greeted by trash and littering.
