Driver’s License Renewal/Issuance Resumes in Rawalpindi

Three weeks ago, due to the sudden unforeseen surge in the coronavirus cases, Rawalpindi traffic police decided to suspend the driver’s license issuance for two months. However, in recent news, it has been revealed that upon the orders of the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Mazhar Iqbal, the driver’s license office in Rawalpindi has resumed operations.

However, the CTO emphasized that strict enforcement of the COVID-19 SOPs at the office premises shall be observed. Only those who follow the SOPs shall be allowed to enter the office. Additionally, outside visitors, other than those looking to obtain their driver’s license, shall not be allowed to enter the premises.

The CTO highlighted that the office shall be disinfected daily to avoid the spread of COVID-19 within the office boundaries. He added that the public is to follow the instructions given by the policemen. Otherwise, the authorities shall practice their right to take strict action against the violators.

The decision has been made in light of a slight decline in the positivity ratio of the coronavirus infections after a country-wide lockdown observed during the Eid holidays. However, the authorities are given instructions from the government to ensure compliance with the COVID-19 SOPs to safeguard the country from a possible major outbreak.
