View Full Version : Laptop charger sunk in WATER but still lives :)
okay don't ask how, but after getting it out within 10 secs i thought its sealed so may be water didn't got inside, anyway i cleaned the charger with dry cloth and put it on but it won't charge. So i quickly removed it & decided to crack open it. There were some small drops inside so i cleaned them too and let the charger dry under fan, also had to clean the fuse box inside the plug :( anyway after 3 hours i put it back and now its working again
So i guess its safe now to use it or may be there is still water inside because there are a lots of tapes inside over every terminal. :smoke:

Let it dry in open condition for about 8 hours in direct sunlight light. Then use it with out any fear of damage to laptop.
Under worst case, adapter might burn but will not harm your laptop.
Well its been 2 hours now i am using it - no sparking etc, i guess no need to keep it under sunlight now? as i have now put a little elfi on the edges too :)

If it is working fine for you, then hopefully no problems will arise.
BTW: How did you open it ? A friend of mine gave me a laptop charger for repair. It is sealed, I think I need a hacksaw to cut it from all around.

Items needed:
1. Cutter
2. Screwdriver

Okay first cut along the line around the charger using the cutter. Then place the screwdriver near the place where the cord is coming out, twist it ........ crack ........ now open the whole charger by placing the screwdriver at different places :)
