View Full Version : India's cap on SMS, We need this too?
Recently Indian Telecom Authority has put cap number of SMS being sent from one number. So now a user can send only 100 SMS's/day. This will help to stop Tele marketing and Spam sms , I think that same should be done in Pakistan (As i am tired of getting these Tuition Sms's, Tank Cleaning SMS, Health Tips etc etc  also There are some people in everybody's contact list who always send you cheap jokes, etc. So putting a limit on SMS will help stop this nonsense. Or may be a better thing would be to BAN SMS Bundle packages . What do you folks say?

In reality I do send (automated system) thousands SMS per day, no more than 30-50 messages per number max, and ONLY to people who have subscribed to the services I offer. Such a stupid rule here would affect me badly.
Why do I need a LICENSE to do what I do legally already? PTA has not blocked my SIM, I know they have blocked many spammers, but I am not spamming, even though my throughput is high.
I am not doing anything illegal, offensive or abnoxious. WHY SHOULD I BE REGULATED?

wht ??
No man i have very large friend circle my uni my work's friends, lot of pplz we love to send them a sms hello high group chat or grop messages which normally goes 100+ sms in a day. So u support very bad idea :p
I wish PTA put cap of 10 SMS (yes only ten) in 24 hours and only one hour total talk time in 24 hours.
Anyway, jokes apart, Pakistan need that Indian law (minus the 100 SMS limitation), in which all advertisers (who uses SMS/call) must register to an authority (in our case, it will be PTA) and if a citizen put his/her cell phone number to a list that is maintain by authority (PTA) then no advertiser can send any SMS or call to that number. If they do then PTA can put hefty fines like PKR Rs. 1,000,000. If advertiser repeats then revoke the license of advertiser. PLUS, rather than limiting the SMS, if somebody disturb anybody with SMS or calls then there should be free service from cellular service providers to automatically reject all calls and SMS from that number.
Even though, "100 SMS Limit" was more focus in news but the law behind it is more important. We need such law in Pakistan too.
From what I realized when I went to Pakistan last year, I felt they should ban those special late night package or offers. We don't have any shortage of the immoral and unethical things that go on at nights particularly among our youth.
As for the spam and advertisements, something difficult to control, maybe someone ought to start a service where the collect known spammers and advertisers and allow you to block their calls/sms - kinda like what Adblock does.

Seriously dude?! I mean, I really hate these night packages and I have never used them because... shocking... I am sleeping at night and even with all the technology advancements, humans still can't use cellphones while sleeping. I also hate that telecom companies focus so much on night packages, SMS packages and Friends and Family packages that it sicken me to bone. Come on, bring something for ordinary people too, who actually sleep at night.
But beside all these, I don't want them to actually kill these night packages. Why?! Freedom! If I don't like someone or someone's opinion then I don't have any right to murder them. This is insane. Tolerance is the key to freedom. As you might be in some Western country then you'll know that they tolerate you as being a Muslim even when 19 out of 19 hijacker terrorists of 9/11 were... shockingly... MUSLIMS. But they know that not all Muslims are bad and they (not everybody) kind of "tolerate" Muslims in their Christian majority countries. They (Christian majority countries) let Muslims live, eat and earn money.
But oh wait, the youth of Pakistan is in turmoil of "immoral" and "unethical" things while staying up all night and talking to each other. Mixing genders, girls talking boys and boy and talking girls. It sounds more like they all do orgy every night. F*** this mentality. If young boys and girls want to talk to each other or SMS each other then let them do it. It is not a big deal. I don't do it and I don't like it but it doesn't mean I have right to take all freedom from them.
I don't drink caffeine (coffee, tea, cola) but it's me, I have no right to ban all the caffeine just because I don't drink it. And other people have no right to shove caffeine filled drinks and food in my mouth just because I am bit different.
Live and let live. Freedom!

If (for any reason) someone has already used 100 SMS per day and in case of emergency he has to send more sms he will be in real trouble then.
Restrictions should not be for "customers" but for those marketing companies who send SMS, this is my opinion :)
