Probably never. Maybe, when last 10 countries of the world will be included by Amazon. Probably before PayPal comes to Pakistan. (Oh come on, Paypal in Pakistan has become a running joke ).

There are some sizable users of Android, if you only look at users of smartphones in Pakistan. But still Nokia has largest share. Pakistanis has some strange fetish love with Nokia. Yeah, it's a fetish because Nokia never returned the love, not even with 1%. Nokia never released maps for Pakistan. Third party importers are way larger than official Nokia.

When Nokia launch their phones in Asia then they release their new phones in Indonesia or Malaysia which are ironically in love with Black-berry (just as Pakistanis are in love with Nokia).

I am really happy that Nokia is getting screwed up. Yesterday, Nokia fired 3500 more employees (it's not the first time Nokia did it) and closed more sections (still not the first time). I am giving Nokia couple of years before they'll file protection against bankruptcy.

Android is the present and future of smartphones, along with iOS. Pakistanis need to wakeup and dump the s**tty Nokia Symbian phones and get either Android or iOS.

At least Google released maps of Pakistan and is actively trying to improve maps further. I use Google maps a lot, beside Angry Birds... (and list goes on and on)

Kindle Fire is a very nice device. I'll wait for about 6 months or a year for price to come down. But still $200 is not bad. However, I don't get it why the fanboys at CNN actively compare Kindle Fire with iPad 2? Come on, if you (CNN) really want to compare then compare it with Nook, not with iPad. Fanboys at CNN have to shove "Apple" and "iPhone" and "iPad" in every tech related story even when it is not related to Apple or it's products at all. Bravo, great marketing by Apple.

P.S. I am not directing it to you, but to CNN who is making the comparison of Kindle Fire with iPad 2. So please don't get upset with my remarks.

Amazon won't ship Kindle here, either.

AFAIK, Nokia never shipped any phone to Pakistan. Yet, Pakistanis are madly in love with Nokia. UnitedMobile, MobileZone, etc. etc. They all import Nokia mobiles and give warranty to Nokia sets. Nokia doesn't even like Pakistan. Nokia never released maps for Pakistan.

By that definition, it's okay with Amazon don't ship Kindle to Pakistan. After all, PayPal isn't yet to Pakistan.

they have official distributors here, official channels. even if they don't fill planes with phones and fly them to karachi, they still have official support. also see http://telecompk.net/2008/11/26/noki...s-in-pakistan/

the problem is simple - no road data. even google depends on ordinary pakistanis to fill their maps with map maker. http://discussions.mea.nokia.com/t5/.../522765#M13341

huh? that makes no sense. if they shipped kindle, do you think paypal would start working here too??? it's unrelated product, unrelated company.

anyway, i have heard enough bad things about kindle and their "fork" of android that even though it is $200 i won't buy.
