Thread: Broadband DSL Upload speed

    Unhappy Broadband DSL Upload speed

So I've noticed that my upstream speed is 1/4th of my downstream. This leaves me without the ability to stream to sites like twitch.tv and livestream. While uploading videos to YouTube becomes a headache, for example it took me an hour to upload this to youtube. It's only around 15 minutes.

My question is, would it be possible to say increase my upstream rate? I'm more than willing to sacrifice my downstream for the upstream if it can help.

realistically, you can do nothing other than switch ISPs.

btw low upstream speeds is one of the reasons p2p has not taken off as it could have.

Any information of whether some other ISPs have better upload speeds in Pakistan? I'm in Peshawar FYI.

Apart from that, I see the upstream limit on my line is around 1mbps (modem info), can that be raised or is that fixed with PTCL?

The upstream will always be lower than the download...

Because... the DSL technology does not support Duplex Bandwidth... Off-course Duplex bandwidth is costly!

Switching ISP will not do any better...

According to my router, PTCL is using ADSL2+,

Max Download speed is 24Mbps, Upload is 1.4Mbps. Its easy to approach 1 mbps upload with a 4mbps connection.

What I am interested in knowing is that what is the possibility of PTCL changing their ADSL technology... And if there are any other ISPs in Pakistan that actually work on a better technology. We are currently using an outdated technology. There are better technologies out there that exploit our amazing copper lines in Pakistan.
