As previously discussed about health related GPS devices provision by local telecom firms, this time I have brought into attention something related to research work and educational activities.
There is no research work going on in the fields of telecom and mobile content; neither operators are pursuing for research work nor the educational institutes. The local telecom firms should make a startup project for young minds to indulge in the field and bring in new services to the local industry and abroad.
I understand here that Pakistani operators fully rely on overseas VAS solution providers, and this saves them money as well – but the government, operators, regulators should put combined effort to train out local workforce to invest their time and money into research and development.
Though, there are some local firms which are going for mobile content development and few of them also develop iPhone application but this research field doesn’t stop here. You have to have an environment and some funding to develop the applications, that will be largely adopted by local and global operators, with huge return on investment.
Now, Adobe & Nokia have started and Open Screen Project Fund. The Open Screen Project Fund is a $10 million market development fund designed to accelerate the creation of applications, content, and services that leverage the Flash Platform and run across mobile, desktop, and consumer electronics devices. The global program was created to fuel innovation by directly commissioning select developers to create innovative apps, and by providing developer education and support.
This fund was launched for direct funding of developers is an excellent way to encourage the creation of innovative, multi-screen applications leveraging the Flash Platform.
The Open Screen Project Fund is seeking applications in the following focus areas:
- Social networking
- Education and more.
If some telecom firm is viewing this forum and comes across this article then they should not waste time (Don’t approach me … I m hired).
If someone who is an I-Am-A-Geek, he/she shouldn’t waste time and start making applications. They will evaluate proposals from around the world. Projects will be funded on a case-by-case basis. The average grant size will be $50,000 USD, although grants will vary dependent on scope and region.
