Here is this positive news from capital that Prime Minister has agreed to withdraw 20 paisas tax on each SMS, reported various newspapers today, citing Farooq Sattar of MQM, who met Mr. Yousaf Raza Gillani at PM House Islamabad.

During a meeting with an MQM delegation led by Overseas Pakistanis’ Minister Farooq Sattar, the prime minister is said to have agreed to a 20-percent raise in pensions and the withdrawal of a 20-paisa tax on the short messaging service (SMS), sources said.

thts not fare tax should be more bcz such pplz don’t know how t use mobiles n cellphone they get these offers n then they abuse pplz in wrong nos or forward msgz regarding wrong contents to pplz such like governments issues using personalities names wrong islamic msgz asking for balance share tht m in hospital or nething else or try this number its a girls number n then balance dicreased of others…
i u got tht kinda offers then respect people of pakistan dont abuse them using tht in a wrong way :)

its a good thing……….but the basic point is….
Government, coincidently, analysed the revenue they will get by applying that tax, and the revenue they will get by applying more tax to the advertisement. Now the conclusion was that if the gov apply tax on SMS, then the advertisement will be less by the companies, as there will be no packages for SMS. and the revenue will automatically be lower.
So………..Gov thinks that its better to earn the money by the advertising of the companies rather than applying the tax on SMS……………

Hina Rabbani said on the demand of youth and children, additional Federal Excise Duty (FED) at the rate of paisa 20 per SMS is being withdrawn.
The revenue loss would be compensated by increasing the additional FED on cellular services from 19 percent 19.5 percent, she said.
