Government Shows Concerns over Telecom Customers’ Services

Pakistan Telecom Authority has worked well for consumer rights, at multiple levels. Authority is bounding telecom operators to provide timely support for customers’ complaints. In this regards, an open forum was held in Karachi (on August 7th, 2009), while more forums are scheduled in Lahore and Islamabad, later this month.

At another level, Government of Pakistan has asked PTA and cellular companies to reveal their budget spends on customer services. It was further asked to provide details about complaint redressal and advertising budgets of PTA and mobile companies.

Sources familiar with the communication that is carried out between Government and industry for said concerns, further told us that Government is keen to provide telecom consumers a sense of satisfaction with the services they are using.
