PTCL is No More Giving DSL Modem Ownerships

PTCL has silently made a change in their broadband policy.

According to old policy, customers had to pay rent of PTCL broadband modem every month with DSL charges and when customer wanted to discontinue PTCL DSL service he had to return PTCL modem to PTCL – if he is not 12 months old customer.

Meaning that after 12 installments, modem belonged to customer – and PTCL couldn’t demand for modem if DSL services were discontinued after 12 months.

But now with new PTCL broadband policy, all new and old customers must have to return back DSL modems at the time when they want to discontinue their DSL service, even if they have completed 12 months or more.

So now modem charges are considered as monthly rental for modem and not the monthly installment.

This policy is valid for old customers too – meaning that if a customer has paid modem installments, even then he will have to return the modem in case of disconnection.

On other side, on new connections – you will have to get PTCL’s modem even if you have your own modem/router with you, unlike LinkDotNet, which allows you to use your own modem/router.

For example with Linkdotnet 1MB student package comes at Rs.885, which includes Rs.150 for modem rental. If you have your own ADSL modem, then you can get the same connection at Rs.735.

    I Sign A Form in Which It is Stated That After 12 Months modem Belongs To Me

    And i Have The Copy of it Till now

    What about that?????

      LOL, man even if you cry you have to return back PTCL modem otherwise they will not disconnect your PTCL DSL connection and will keep sending you the bill

        Actually, you can take PTCL to court because the agreement between you and PTCL was based on the form you have. I’m sure there’s a clause where PTCL must seek consent to change the terms of the agreement before changing anything, and in this case, as there was no prior notification to the customer nor was there any intimacy of the fact that PTCL’s changing the policy, you, ipso facto, would be the owner of the modem. If they force an agreement on you, that’ll be ab-initio [i.e. void in itself] cause you already have an agreement (and a precondition to a condition, if I remember correct, is wrong)

        Goes to show why you mustn’t opt for PTCL. Anymore.

      I belong to ptcl and all at the top management are thieves and many are promoted to the top slot due to their involvement in the evil , immoral activities and speicailization in crook and dishonest practices.

      Ever since the privitization of ptcl, it has always been changing its stance and position to what it has commited and promised earlier.

      PTCL are all liers and there is no hesitation to the ptcl for saying anything else in the begining and doing something else contarary to its words.

      PTCL even did not hesitate to misbehave with its employees,

      It is stll not clear what are the arabs are for ?
      Are they serious to do the telecom buisiness or they are just for enjoyment and extravaganza? while our rulers would be dreaming to be enjoying thier lives in the artificial man made islands in Dubai at the cost of the handing over precious, preceless national assets like ptcl to Arab Badowans .

      Curse upon our leaders who are building the houses of thier will and desires and dreams at the cost of the future of pakistan.

    PTCL is cheating us in all ways. PTA should take action against it. If someone have DSL connection before this policy announced than they should right to keep modem after 12 month because during time of connection install PTCL make agreement that modem will not return if 12 month use and PTCL breaking this agreement. After this policy announced if someone take DSL connection than they should notified that modem will be return even after 12 month and also advertise in big newspapers about it. Force customer to take modem even they want use their own is also illegal. Did PTA is sleeping or just eligible for send show-cause notice like previous about local call for Rs. 1/m without advertisement?

      Wo wakt yaad karo jab Etisalat nay PTCL kharidi to kitnay nakhnray dikhyayay thay PTA ko, aur PTA ko batain manna pardi thein ta kay sarmayai kari naam badnaam na ho.
      also remember that 3G in Pakistan is delay due to PTCL.

      Khan tu sab say sachi baat kahi PTCL delivered used repaired furnished modems to their customers, you can confirm by smelling your new PTCL DSL modem or by checking the warranty seal of your PTCL DSL modem at the bottom back of the modem.

    PTCL cannot demand the return of CPE owned by old subscribers.

    I have objection of their new policy. Currently, I am paying Rs. 500/- as installment. They must work out a reasonable rental fee for their CPE.

    its about time the customers started to feel the cost of communications. for too long have they been sucking on the teet of price wars and not realizing the true cost of service. if you paid more for it you may value it more. Great move by PTCL – this give away pricing and free, free, free mentality has got to stop

    Tell you something interesting. I ordered PTCL connection. They did not get anything signed from me. Just delivered the modem and connected me. the customer service was pathetic. Guess what i did? I told them to take my connection back. I did not need such pathetic service. they came, severed the connection. They asked me for the modem, and i said modem was my own. they said no, its PTCL’s, I told them show me a proof. They didn’t have any since they didn’t get anything signed from me. So now i have a PTCL modem anyway. :) I told all my friends and now we all have a PTCL modem. :)

    PTCL customer care and billing system is very pathetic and shameful.

    People who have been paying thier phone bill s regularly , they have been found coming to the ptcl exchanges in the offices of SROs with the copy of the paid and new monthly telephone bill for not only the correction of the faulty over bills but also opening thier numbers which are closed without any reason.

    While on the other hand , there are people who have not received the telephone bills for months and thier phone anddsl are working without any interruption.

    Wawoooooooooo , bravo. what a billing system and customer care ,

    What to say of BnCC. thier unrepliable service that the person who is honest is suffering and the one who is never paying a bill is enjoying all.

    So my reply to Ali Raza Shb , on the behalf of all the employees of ptcl is that Ali Shb, u r doing all well.

    these days internet speed of ptcl is pathetic. disconnection rate is so high, sometime i wonder, Am i having internet connection on PC. although I am paying 1200 a month.

      if they are providing a cheaper rates hen i get rid of he ptcl dsl whose i m paying despite being the employee and even then my dsl is lying dead for more than twop weeks despite making the complaints at numerous occasion

    When i signed the form, it said modem will be mine after 12 months . PTCL can go sc*** itself. Its been over a year now. I own the modem. Good luck taking it back whenever i shove the crappy dsl line up ptcl’s *** WHEN i find a good alternative to their ptcl.

    Freaking no consumer rights. They can’t change a policy just like that. Friggin monkeys are running PTCL these days. Sifarshi bhar***

    As the counsel of Global IT Vision civil Pvt had filed a suit seeking damages of Rs. one billion from PTCL for suspending services to the IT Company without any legal justification. The court had already issued notices to PTCL Chief Executive, Senior Executive Vice President Tariq Salman, General Manager Muhammad Bsharat Qureshi and Senior Manager Nadeem Abbasi.
    The suit for damages was filed by the Company’s counsel Azher Siddique Advocate.
    Petitioner’s counsel contended that PTCL had suspended agreement with IT firm on May 4, 2010 and suspended SIP services to the company without giving an opportunity of hearing to company.
    Counsel said that due to suspension of services, the Company has to bear loss of billions of rupees and suspension by PTCL also tarnished the image of the company.
    He prayed before the court to freeze all the assets of PTCL and put names of senior officials including a foreigner on exit control list (ECL).
    Azher further prayed the court to direct PTCL to submit Rs. one billion as security so that PTCL could not sell the assets of the company in case of a decision against it.

    I am a victim of PTCL’s Smart TV. The service is troubleled by frequent non availability due to technical reasons which the complain registering officer describes as “back end problem”. lodging a complain is a nightmare every time i lodge a complain the officer askes me to go through a long check list to check the modem , the cables & configuration by loging in to the modem page to check the settings which takes about half an hour & in the end I get the same reply that it is a “back end problem” which will be ractified as soon as possible. If I had not spent thousands of rupees on the Set top box of smart tv I would have abandoned the service long time back, but now I am stuck!.I contacted 1236 PTCL number & asked for refund of all the amount that I have paid as installments of the set top box, but their shocking reply was that if I disconnect the service the installments will me charged as rent of set top box. Is there any way I can get a refund? I would very much like to get Worldcall TV but PEMRA has allocated my area to ‘Desi cable operator’ & wont allow Worldcall here, a dead end again!

    PTCL is the worst company I’ve ever had experience with.

    Unstable DSL connection. Complaints are not resolved for weeks.

    Got PTCL evo device (4000 + 2000 for first month), its not giving more than 300kbps in Lahore Gulberg although according to them its 3.1Mbps… so getting 10times less than what i expect.

    I’m totally fed up of PTCL and doing complaints over and over and all in vein…

    TO HELL with PTCL. I don’t recommend PTCL to anyone.. Use someone else but PTCL..
