The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) has announced that has reached stage three or final stage of IPv4 exhaustion in Asia Pacific, which means that it has released almost all of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses in its available pool.
IPv4 Exhaustion Stage 3 starts when APNIC reaches its last /8 of available IPv4 address space. At this stage, all new and existing APNIC account holders will be allotted a maximum allocation of a /22 from the Final /8 address space.
APNIC has said that it will prioritize new entrants and those deploying IPv6 for remaining IPv4 addresses.
This way Asia Pacific has become the first region to reach this stage of exhaustion, due to notably high telephony and internet growth and hence the demand for IPs in the region.
Last year, PTA had estimated that IPv4 addresses in Pakistan will exhaust in 2014, which now looks little incorrect, based on above mentioned facts.
APNIC and PTA have been encouraging ISPs to move their systems to IPv6, however, the progress in this regard (in Pakistan) is not very impressive. This marks as a warning call for all ISPs in the country to speed up their pace for moving to IPv6 addresses.

A very useful post. Will it in any affect those having a domain in their name? What if the domain is to expire say in 6 months time? Any comments?
It has nothing to do with domains, dear. It has to do with IP address assignments. Like when you use DSL to get online your ISP give you an IP address from their address pool. Problem is now it is harder for ISP to get addresses from APNIC. Which mean, some day, you will start getting 192.168.x.x IP address :(
SHAHID SALEEM sahab jab aap ko kuch pata nahi hota tu comment dena zarori hai kia,192.168.x.x ye lan address hai matlab jo free of cost hota hai, yahan pe WAN ADDRESS(internet) ki baat ho rahi hai,aap tu bilkul NOOB ho ,plzz GHALAT information nahi diya karein SHAHID SAHAB aur kisi cheez k barey main comment karney se phelay search karney ki zehmat kar liya karien
People hav ebeen predicting the use of 192.168 type addresses when IPv4 runs out because the whole internet has not moved to IPv6. Search for “NAT” or “private” at

Also google for “ipv4 carrier grade nat” you will see links like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier_Grade_NAT
Carrier-grade NAT has been proposed as an approach to dealing with the problem of IPv4 address exhaustion and easing the transition to IPv6.
In other words, I DO KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.
“Last year, PTA had estimated that IPv4 addresses in Pakistan will exhaust in 2014, which now looks little incorrect, based on above mentioned facts.”
PTA is correct! APNIC is running out of IPv4 but ISPs of Pakistan have already bought huge pools of IPs from APNIC for near future needs.
Like, the following IP pools are currently allocated for PTCL:
119.152.0.0 – 119.159.255.255
116.71.0.0 – 116.71.255.255
59.103.0.0 – 59.103.255.255
182.177.0.0 – 182.177.255.255
203.99.160.0 – 203.99.191.255
221.120.192.0 – 221.120.255.255
202.125.128.0 – 202.125.159.255
203.135.0.0 – 203.135.63.255
(plus a fews others I don’t remember)
These pools sum to approx. 1 million IP addresses while PTCL currently has approx. 0.4 customers.
The same with other ISPs..
It will take years for Pakistan to run out of IPv4 addresses.
Yes, we do have enough IPv4 pool, however, this fact should never be used as an excuse for slow transition to IPv6
