I am little late on reporting this, for a reason that I am away travelling in an area where internet and cellular coverage is very limited.
But somehow, I was able to know the fact that our friend Sohaib Athar a.k.a ReallyVirtual has become a celebrity, after he accidently live tweeted the Osama Bin Laden’s death and the situation before and after the operation.
Sohaib Athar, for those who don’t know, has helped us several times for maintaining our server, is an IT consultant by profession. He relocated to Abbottabad couple of years ago to seek peace in life.
Like so many IT professionals (who serve clients in US) Sohaib Athar works during nights, and this is how he was spotted US helicopters in the area around 12:30 AM on May 2nd 2011.
He live tweeted the whole operation, of course with little knowledge to the actual event, which later made to the headline of the world over media.
Since then Sohaib Athar has been interviewed by several TV channels, including CNN, BBC, ABC, Fox, IBN-Live, Geo News and many other.
All this has earned Sohaib Athar more than 100,000 twitter followers, and the counter is still ticking…

Not only followers on twitter, he is on all main stream media today. CNN, BBC, ABC, Fox everywhere and all london newspaper (today) were filled with his tweets (like this that i have http://twitpic.com/4sr2ix )…..shows you what social media is capable of

Hmm… But you should all know that Osama’s twitter account and website was hacked and has been infected by some really creepy virus/malware. I personally got infected by visiting his site Really Virtual and when I searched on that got proof about this on time of india and other sites.

He could have milked few million rupees easily, even if he had put up some banner and google ads on his website, he could have made few thousand dollars, or put up some link to hire him for services he is good in. His site shows massive alexa jump.
