Lastly, Warid And Zong Imposed 1.5 Percent Charges

Following Telenor, Mobilink and UfoneZong and Warid have imposed 1.5 percent charges on all reloads for prepaid customers.

Warid’s website is flashing following message:

Dear Customers, a maintenance charge of 1.5% will be applicable on every recharge from 25th Jul 2011 along with existing Government taxes.

While Zong said:

Dear Customers, in order to further improve our services, all loading/recharge will be subject to 1.5% Operational Charge from 1st July 2011 (Govt taxes apply)

Interestingly, all operators have imposed the charges but with different timings and names. Operators say they had to impose these charges to cope up with the increasing opex.

Operator Charge Name Charges Rate
Mobilink Operational Fee 1.0 Percent
Ufone Maintenance Charges 1.1 Percent
Telenor Admin Fee 1.5 Percent
Zong Maintenance Charges 1.5 Percent
Warid Operational Charges 1.5 Percent

    • Move people move, we Pakistanis must move now to internet service as you are already paying your internet bill right?

Now people must learn alternative ways of voice and text communications such as calling and messaging applications like Nimbuzz, Max99, Mig33, Viber, Skype, Google Talk, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo mail, Gawab mail.

We Pakistanis are now unhappy after those high taxes, service charges etc fees by government and telecoms. ProPakistani must post a guide on how we can get benefit from those above free internet applications for our communications.

Above applications can also be used with phones using mobile internet, and they will become more fun once 3G is launched with fast internet in Pakistan.

(I already started moving SMS, phone calls to internet voice and emails since telenor tried to impose service charges)

  • I didn’t find any such message on their web site, you can post direct link or any screen shot ?
All i find is this old message …

Dear Prepaid Customer from Sept 26 2008 & onwards 5% additional service charges (on recharge face value) will be applicable on all recharges i.e via Scratch card or Ezee load.

Prepaid Customers will be charged Rs 0.50/- (exclusive of taxes) per call for dialing Warid Helpline and an additional Rs 1.50/- (exclusive of taxes) will be charged for talking to our Customer Service Representative.

    • It is called regulation! Cartel means something illegal. This is approved by PTA which is the regulatory authority in this case.

        • @Hedge and Rainbow: Did you see an approval letter from PTA when helpline charges were implemented? Did you see one when Service charges were implemented? Do you see any when pricing is changed(increased or decreased)?

Simple answer: NO YOU DONT!! Simple fact is that when such changes are implemented across the board, it is always approved by the regulatory authority.

But don’t take my word for it. Send an email to PTA complaning about the same and see what response you get and what action they take.

          • I know you’re an employee of a telco. Don’t try justifying your increment on this forum.

            • I am actually an employee of many telcos because I work for a telco vendor. That alone gives me plenty of insight in to all these changes in policy and pricing. But again, coming to the point which you completely ignored, is the fact that this is PTA approved.

You, like me reserve the right to voice your opnion and raise a complaint. I was merely pointing you in the right direction. Nothing personal.

              • I guess it isn’t difficult to get an approval from PTA specially in regime of PPP, everyone knows what it will require.

                • Works both ways actually. PTA doesn’t complain when the telcos provide the 2nd cheapest(2nd only to the Indian telcos) rates in the south east and south asian reigon.

  • IS MOBILINK OPERATIONAL FEES APPLICABLE THROUGH RECHARGE VIA SCRATCH CARD? AS WEBSITE SAY ALL RECHARGE THROUGH JAZZ LOAD

  • SO can anyone let me know how much will be deducted in loading 100, in case of all operators….????

  • this is due to the economic condition of the country they are imposing more and more as they get expesive electricity

    • than why they are reducing call rates …!!! PTA should look into this issue
      Why not postpaid???

  • have anyone noticed how much increase happened in milk prices, on other consumer items that you buy daily??
bhai this is called inflation, telcos are only following the suit, when everthing else goes up, why cant telcos..
i think we all need to grow up and reallise that.. untill we make more dams, energy cost would not stop going up.. we are running out of cheap gas.. we have negligible petrol.. but we have tremendous hydral oppertunity.. alas our politicians are are all ass.. and so are we.. for not fighting for a better government..
these charges are petty issues and are just a market consequence of increased costs..
if we want these prices to come down, we need the cost to come down..
for that we need to go and vote for the right candidate.. my vote this time is for Imran khan :)

  • PTA is here Umer Kayani Sahib, PTA is doing its best in whatever way it can.

What do you think was the milk price 5 years back and the mutton you like the most was at 300 and is now at 500 per KG, the oil prices and industry over all situation in Pakistan.

Telcos and PTA are doing good for the people of Pakistan. Even then with the charges Pakistan is the country with lowest charges, Do you know in USA you have to pay for the in coming calls as well.

Be happy and have fun and Say it all :)

    • Don’t compare food prices with Information Technology. You’re comparing two wrong things… Food has a limit to be produced while Technology has no limit in production. For example check 1 kg Mango and 1 low end mobile price in Japan…. Example #2, You’ll need to consume food like milk or fruits forever, would you like to pay for GSM technology 10 years later?…. First learn what and how to compare then post.

  • baeee….yahan tou har telco ne lut machayeee hui hai , jis ko dekho bas paise khobnay k chakar mai betah hai and yeh samajtay hain k awaam tou yahan bewaqoof bethi hai

Waise tou yeh operational fee saara kuch sab aik buhat bara drama hai laiken chalo maan bhi lain k is ki zarurat hai, tou kam az kam profit tou kam rekho jaise Mobilink ne kia hai

1.5% tou buhat hee ziada hai aur ooper se Telenor ko dekho unho ne is ka naam “Admin Fee” rekh dia wo samajte hain k sab yahan chawal bethe hain.

Ajeeb hee qaum hai kasam se

    • o mama vo bata raha k usa jse developed r advaced country ma b abe tk incoming call pe b chage kea jata ha,,,,tu mama wikipedia ka link le k agia ha….pata hota kuch ne ha ajate hen mo utha k jb dodh mehnga hota ha petrol mehnga hota ha tb tum kahan hote ho yan tme 1rs ma 500 sms mil jate ha jin pe tm bachio se gandi bate krte ho r yahn aa k mamay bn k bate krne lg jatay ho…

  • Didn’t Telenor drop these admin charges and increased Service Charges to 6.5%?

  • Telenor Takes Back Admin Fee, Increases Service Charges

By Aamir Attaa · Friday, Jul 15, 2011

May I ask what was that…..????

  • now zong is becoming more and more expensive. the fraudluents that lottery scheme by answering questions worth PKR10.00+tax is another fraud and still no one has earned.

  • @Admin. Please report this:
Dear Customer, from July 20, 2011, the subscription charges for Ufone Delivery Reports will be Rs. 7.5+tax for every 15 days.

  • I am loving it, you dont want to see an increase in call fees, and you don’t want a service charge. But you want an increase in quality and coverage, with more services, including banking, but no porn, in a failed economy, where everyone spends all their time supporting corrupt governments and general corruption.

You live by the sword you die by the sword.

  • My Sister, Mani – A jaye ge app ko yaad apni nani, jab Pervaiz Mushraf na kaha tha ab kisi ka pass roti ho na ho, har ak ka pass mobile zaroor ho ga.

O Allah ke Bandi you are right that the price of food should no where be compared with the price of technology that does not have any growth limitation.

What do you think is this mobile doing to our country, its kids, its youth and its future. Its modernizing with demoralizing and that’s just because of the cheap price.

I vote for a reasonable price standard that is regulated with limitations, as it happens in other South Asian, Arabian Telco’s.

Pakistan needs this otherwise these price wars will simply spoil the birds and the breeds which are to takeover Pakistans genealogy.

Communication could either destroy or benefit, depending how it is offered commercially.
