Zahid Hussain, an IT professional from Pakistan has developed a search engine/directory software for the Holy Quran, which can display topic based results from Holy Quran.
It’s not that search engine for Holy Quran were not available before, but special feature that Zahid Hussain brought is that you can search for any topic or subject in the Holy Quran in four languages
- English,
- Arabic,
- Urdu and
- Roman Urdu).
Earlier versions of Search Engine for Holy Quran (easily available online) support mainly the English and Arabic languages.
Roman Urdu is what most of us use in normal text messages so the effort to make the Quran more accessible is commendable.
The way it works is that suppose you want to know what the Quran says about a particular topic, say “صبر”. You can either type it in Urdu, type “Patience” in English or “Sabar” in Roman Urdu.
The software will then tell you how many times it appears in the Quran and where it appears. All translations are provided along with the original ayat.
Zahid completed this software after working on it for one and a half years and is providing it free of cost. You can donate for his efforts and help with future projects; his homepage provides details for that.
Other projects he’s currently working on and plans to release are Search Hadees Engine, Search Tafseer-e-Quran, Search Quran-o-Hadees website and Search Quran-o-Hadees Mobile software.

Searchquran.com is just a copy vevsion of http://tanzil.net ! except, both of these web sites are Online verison of Quran, and Mr. Zahid Hussain created offline version with Search capabilities, both are entirely different in term of usage !

More over the unique feature offered by Zahid Hussain is the ROMAN URDU. Which is not available on these websites.

I download his version, great work but has many probles in installing. And very badly arranged windows no zoom view no changeable fonts.
Khazain-ul-Hidayat and Quran Explorer are excellent if no need of roman English.

noorehidayat has already done this job before 2005, they are distributing their software cd free of cost and also with free shipping in Pakistan. Currently Noorehidayat Version 1.1 is available free from their website at http://www.noorehidayat.org and market. So this statement is not correct that the developer of this software done this job first time in Pakistan. It also indicate the miss credibility of Geo news.

I downloaded the quran o hadees search engine v3.1.0 and followed the instructions given in the readme file for installation. But after installation every time i run the Search Quran exe file i get the error that WinSearch Quran haas stopped working. I have windows vista business sp2 and I have tried both the xp version and windows 7 version as well and the result is same. Please see the attachment for the error.
I request everyone to kindly guide me how can I make it run properly ?
