  • What is a Cisco Cloud Certification? You need to have 3rd party certification to get credibility not to pay money for Cisco to certify.

  • @cea53425f459691a89705712f678da61:disqus Friend u seems to be novice. Please google first before commenting. Wateen is the only Telecom and Solutions provider in Pakistan which have now achieved this benchmark of Cisco. And man this is Cisco not some random Chinese company and to get certified from Cisco u need to maintain few standards to win the Certification, with talented and top of class Technical employees, Wateen is the only provider with many CCIEs as their employees in there Core Engineering to provide the customers the best possible solutions.

    • yeah yeah. Cisco is a networking company. Cloud is the domain of providers of computing, storage and networking. Cisco is very late in this field of cloud. Microsoft, Citrix, EMC, Oracle are far ahead.

Multinet is going to launch Oracle cloud and will make this Wateen cloud look like a puff of cigarette smoke infront of a large storm cloud. Wait and see.

Multinet has beaten Wateen in every field from networking connectivities to data center. In cloud story will be the same.

Wateen should concentrate on Wimax business which it is best in.

      • Cisco cloud, Oracle cloud — what a joke. Yet another form of stupid local companies give large amounts of money to big foreign companies.

The hundreds if not thousands of successful VPS and cloud providers out there DO NOT use such vendor solutions. They can roll their own using openvz, xen, even linux KVM. They can use openstack for a relatively powerful packaged offering. By and large, it is a SOLVED problem for 90% of the users (businesses) out there.

You think Linode, Amazon EC2, etc etc use vmware vCloud or Oracle Cloud or some Cisco product? They simply use (free) xen. So why can’t Wateen or Multinet? Xen on EC2 is good enough and secure enough even for a US government-only region.

If you really want to pay money, there’s Microsoft’s service (hyper-v) for Windows instances, or you can pay for commercial xenserver or vCloud. But don’t give Oracle or Cisco more money.

        • Shahid, if Wateen and Multinet understood this concept, they’d have to invest in developing people locally including software engineering resources. Given the state of these two companies, one can safely say that human development is the least of their priorities.

Buying a solution is easy, developing it ain’t.

      • Hahaha! Multinet is no Match to Wateen. Multinet is not even partner to any reputed vendor and does not have any support contract, so keep aside cisco :) I completely know ablou Multinet network infrastructure and Wateen’s both so please dont make me comment on Multinet network connectivity. And Multinet provided only limited number of services and and wateen have wide range and WiMAX is one of them. I dont want to comment and compare technical details of both of them but trust me Wateen is far better.

And Multinet is not deploying cloud on its own (using 3rd party), so they dun have that much technical experts in their employees to deploy cloud on their own, this is what Transworld did and failed because when operational problem arises local staff should be able to fix. no one should wait for 3rd party to come and fix downtime.
And BTW I have been hiring about Multinet cloud for about a year now so why there cloud is not operation yet? Please try to find the answer of this question and u wud b surprised :)

        • Please back your information with facts before uttering this nonsense.

Kindly look at Wateen losses. The company financials are in disaster.
          http://www.wateen.com/dlfiles/reports/Wateeen%203rd%20Quarterly%20Report%20FY%202012-13.pdf
You can easily see this on own Wateen website.
11.4Bn in long term debt, 25.9Bn in short term debt, accumulated losses of 21BN and last year loss of 18bn.
The question now to ask yourself is if this company will survive or not and will you have a job? Better to start looking my friend rather than sitting there in Corporate Communications department at Wateen and defending this company. Come join Multinet, we will give you offer

Better for Wateen to only have focused on selling Wimax rather than trying to compete with Multinet in fiberoptics and cloud business. Multinet management also much stronger. Look at Adnan Asdar, Rashid Shafi, Arif Hussain and Tariq Mustafa. Who does Wateen have? I also found out that they have 2 CTOs, one is Chief Technology Officer and one is Chief Transformational Officer. Now you tell me what has been transformed?? Transformed from great company to one that is finished and cannot compete with Multinet. Both Multinet and Wateen started at same time and see what happened?

Same was case with Warid and Telenor. Telenor became number 2 after PTCL and Warid became last and now being sold off. Same with Wateen and Multinet. Multinet is number 2 after PTCL and Wateen almost finished.

          • :) Dude AFAIK Multinet is also under huge debt, loan from Telecom Malaysia. And I myself do respect Mr. Adnan and others but Wateen have far better Management hierarchy from GM to DGM, Wateen have many DGMs not just single GM like Tariq Mustafa over all Technical departments.

Regarding job, I am CCIE and Multinet cannot afford to pay me. Kindly go any check out Multinet IP core team of Mr. Abdul Salam and ask them how many CCNPs you have in your team and answer would be none. Multinet is providing L2/L3 services to enterprises with incompetent technical team, cloud is lead by Mr. Asim and he has only 2 guys in his team and none have expertise on cloud. In Wateen we have solid technical team from DGM to the Engineer level. We have hiring criteria which one have to meet to join. Not just every Tom Dick and Harry.

            • I am not sure but wasn’t it reported that Multinet got bail out from IFC for $16.25 million?

              http://ifcext.ifc.org/ifcext/spiwebsite1.nsf/ProjectDisplay/SPI_DP31078

I think Multinet has settled its debts from Telekom Malaysia (now Axiata) too, https://propakistani.pk/2010/07/20/axiata-to-sell-89-stake-in-multinet-pakistan-for-15m/ This is old news.

I’m not a big fan of Multinet either but I think they have done a better job than Wateen. More just bad strategy initially rather than corruption at Wateen.

Coming back I am glad there are many cloud providers now like PTCLCloud, CubeXS, RapidCompute (Cybernet ka cloud).

I also think its silly to say as the above commentators has said that Wateen has so many partnerships and Multinet or others doesn’t. If you blow enough money on any major supplier they will come to your feet and offer you any and all sort of partnership. I think Multinet is Oracle partner now.

As regards to the people, I don’t know many on both sides but have respect for Tariq Mustafa CTO Multinet and Faisal Satter Wateen – I think Faisal is more qualified but that’s my personal opinion only.

              • Wateen is Champs & no match with Multinet….Multinet withdraws from any claims of being Champions.

                • Multinet is champion. It has won all projects and kicked Wateen out of market. Now Wateen is only competing with small companies.

            • Bro, im not being biased here but i know both the companies quite well. My point is, if Multinet is going in profit and Wateen is going in loss, it means Multinet is performing better than
Wateen, isn’t it simple ? 2ndly, Multinet may not have CCIEs in their IP team but they do have an outclass talented and experienced technical team to make Multinet achieve what they dream for. Last but the most imp 1, Multinet’s environment is far less politicized than Wateen :)

              • Guys let’s not indulge ourselves in such debate… Coming back to the initial argument, the question is “does these cloud offerings in Pakistan are built over solid foundations?” Or the companies have just rushed into it just to add another product in their profile.

The main concerning factor is that organizations are not investing right amount of time, finances and energy in operational excellence, infrastructure robustness and development of technical resources.

    • fact check: operating from Karachi, IBM Italia and AT&T Global network services are already Cisco Cloud and Managed services advanced and master partners respectively,

    • Thanks for reporting, we will look into it.

Just as a matter of fact, ProPakistani.com contains nothing, but just a redirection to ProPakistani.PK… meaning that there’s nothing harmful at ProPakistani.com coz there’s nothing at all hosted in there.

Still, we are going to check this whole thing.
