Telenor Pakistan yesterday announced that it has successfully completed the installation of Biometric Verification System (BVS) for activation of SIMs at all of its Sahulat Ghar outlets across Pakistan.

It is pertinent to note here that Telenor Pakistan has been selling SIMs through BVS at all of its own Sales & Service Centers and Franchises in Karachi since December 01, 2013 and completed the nationwide installation of BVS for activation of SIMs at its S&SCs and Franchises on December 19, 2013.

On March07, 2014 Telenor Pakistan became the first mobile operator to initiate BVS installation at its retail outlets and completed the BVS deployment in Karachi and Baluchistan by March 31, 2014.

It won’t be out of place to mention here that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has directed all cellular operators to not to issue any new SIM (or replacement SIM) after August 1st, 2014 without Biometric Verification of customers.

Telenor Pakistan’s staff along with channel partners was trained on the new system to ensure seamless transition to meet customer demands. Moreover, in order to facilitate consumers, special SIM sale counters for BVS have been setup alongside placement of informative posters, standees and handing out of brochures.

Commenting on this development, Muhammad Aslam Hayat, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Telenor Pakistan expressed satisfaction and said, “We are pleased to announce that we have completed the implementation of Biometric Verification System at all our Sahulat Ghar outlets in the country to ensure higher accuracy of subscriber data.  We are confident that BVS will further help us address the issue ofidentity theft and prevent the irregular use of cellular connections. We are once again extremely grateful to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Ministry of Information and Technology, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Ministry of Interior for facilitating this process.”

Besides activation/replacement of SIMs, mobile number portability, change of SIM ownership and other value added services; Telenor Sahulat Ghar offers the facility to open Easypaisa Mobile Accounts through biometric verification, a first-of-its-kind initiative which is expected to give substantial impetus to Mobile Account adoption and the overall Easypaisa ecosystem.

  • Telenor proved as innovative company since start of their Operations in Pakistan. Easyload, Easypaisa are brandnames people remember for other companies products. Good to see healthy competition in market to grab respective share at customer front.

  • Ammir bhayi, this is not true. I have sahulat ghar but no biometric so far. Today is Aug 8 and ur post is a few days old.
