Pakistan vs India T20 Match Attracted 22 Million Facebook Interactions

Any match taking place between Pakistan and India will cause social media to go berserk as far as engagement on Facebook and Twitter is concerned. According to the latest statistics, Facebook witnessed 22 million interactions from 8.5 million unique users this Thursday, all thanks to the match that took place between India and Pakistan two days ago.

In addition to surpassing the 22 million interaction mark on Facebook, the leading social network also saw 8.2 million unique Facebook users showcasing support for their teams.

Virat Kohli and Shahid Afridi were the two most mentioned cricketers during this period

Two of the most popular cricketers belonging to either side of the team were Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and India’s Virat Kohli, the latter of who was crowned ‘Man of the Match’ on a pitch that saw a huge amount of turn, allowing spinners to capitalize on the conditions quite effectively.

Before we forget, interactions were not only related to the men’s side of the team, but also the women’s team. The most mentioned players from the women’s match were India’s Mithali Raj and Pakistan’s Sana Mir.

Over 10 celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan took advantage of Facebook’s photo frame feature in order to show undying support for their team, while from Pakistan’s camp, Mariana Iqbal, Shan Masood, and Maya Ali were few of the celebrities clamoring their support for their cricket team.

Facebook has also stated that Facebook Live was used for live streaming match-related content featuring cricketers like MS Dhoni and Shoaib Malik.
