Murad Ali Shah Approves 300% Increase in His Own Salary

On Saturday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah approved a bill to increase his own salary by more than 300%.

Salary, medical facilities, and other allowances of each MNA of the Sindh Assembly have also increased from Rs. 72,600 to Rs. 145,000 per month with effect from July 1, 2017.

Previously chief minister’s salary was Rs. 35000, which has topped up to reach Rs 150,000 now. In addition to Rs 150,000, the other allowances, including rent and maintenance, are Rs 140,000.

Basic Pay of MPA’s and advisers has increased from Rs 30,000 to Rs 75,000 (excluding the allowances)

In addition to this, the income of the speaker Sindh Assembly has also been increased from Rs 80,000 to Rs 150,000. The deputy speaker is to receive a total of Rs 140,000 instead of Rs 70,000.

50% Increase in Basic Salary Of Each MPA Approved

“Earlier, each MPA got Rs 24,000 as basic salary which has now been increased to Rs 50,000,” an official said.  Adding that amount of Rs 24,000 with total allowance, becomes Rs 145,000.

The resolution came after the Sindh provincial assembly approved a bill for an increase in the salaries of it’s members. Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro defended his statement of passing this bill by saying, “The decision is being made in view of the skyrocketing prices of committees. Last time, our salaries were increased in 2013, so we deserve the raise.”

It must be mentioned that despite resigning, many MPAs still receive salaries and about 50 MPAs have not spoken a word in Sindh Assembly in over three years.

  • No problem , increase in salaries its ok, but almost 80% of these people are corrupt, what about corruption? by the way , increase in salaries is a good step to stop corruption in a way.

    • Ok, how much did they increase the salary of other govt. employees to reduce corruption in your opinion? is it also 300% or even close to 50% !

      • yes you were right , i thought if salary of a policemen is enough to meet his family needs , he will not , take bribery and work according to law.

    • Article says:

members of provincial assemblies are called MPAs.

2- Previously chief minister’s salary was Rs. 35000, which has topped up to reach Rs 150,000 now

      —This is 400 %

3- Many MPAs still receive salaries and about 50 MPAs have not spoken a word in Sindh Assembly in over three years.

      — Salaries are not for “speaking” in assemblies.

    • You are right in a theoretical manner… Frustration leads to corruption for most individuals, taking example of corporate culture, most employees loyalty remains with the pay scale..

If the file keeper at Attorney General Sindh has fixed salary of 12K and he has to feed his 4 kids and a family, he would look upon the ‘other’ options… Though i believe increasing salary in all Govt. departments may reduce corruption but not eradicate it…

  • More Salary to avoid Corruption ! But What about Private Organization :
Woto Yearly 10% Bhi Nahi Bharhate Aj Bhi Kisi Mazdoor Ki Salary 12 Ghante Bad Bahi 15,000 Nahi :

  • Let me say it, Is Kanjar ke bachay ko chahiye ke pehlay apni performance 300% barhaye

  • We don’t have issues with their salaries raise. Indeed it’s a good step but they should also improve their performance

    • Ye khabar suntay hi Thar aur rural Sindh k elaqoun main kush haali aa gae.
Arboun rupay lootay hoe ko kuch hazaroun ki kia zaroorat?

  • Jo salaray increase hoe hai aur jo AB total bani hai issay ziada to ye petrol aur ‘dosri’ cheezoun main ura detay hounge.
Jis k moun croroun ki corruption lagi hoe ho uski salary hazaroun main barha kar kia faida?
