Chinese Aerobatics Team’s Performs at PAF Base Samungli

On a chilly afternoon of 19th Nov 2017 at PAF Samungli Airbase (Quetta), Ba Yi Aerobatics Team of People’s Republic of China mesmerized the viewers with a splendid aerobatics performance.

The event was held by PAF and although its entry was restricted, it did not stop locals and bystanders in the vicinity of Quetta Airport from experiencing a jaw dropping display of professionalism and competency by PAF and Chinese pilots alike.

Reportedly, the Chinese aerobatics team was heading back home after performing at Dubai Air Show (12 Nov –16 Nov) and made a stopover in Pakistan.

The Ba Yi Aerobatics Team (English: August 1st) is the aerobatic demonstration team of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. It is named after the date of the founding of the PLA (August 1, 1927), and is a part of the PLAAF Beijing Military Region.

The unit was founded in 1962 and has over the years performed more than 600 times for delegations from 166 countries and regions.

The highlights of the show were static display of Jets and helicopter which also included JF-17 aircraft. National Anthems of both the countries were played and Pakistani hosts thanked Ba Yi Team for honoring them with their presence.

It was then followed by a wonderful aerobatics display of PAF’s 4 x F7 PGs as well as fly-by of Bell, Cobras and an MI-17 helicopter of Army Aviation.

Lastly 6 x J-10s initially parked in front of the viewers roared like lions and went towards the tarmac before taking off in the clear blue skies of Quetta Valley.

Their performance continued for about half an hour and left the onlookers craving for more. After the Team landed back, pilots and crew mingled up with the spectators and as usual, selfie session was in order thereafter. Chinese media representatives were also present and posters of the aerobatics team members were distributed among the attending families.
