PCB Chairman Hints at Complete Restoration of Pakistan Cricket in 2 Years

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman has claimed that international cricket will be completely restored in the country within 2 years.

In an interview with a media agency, the head of PCB said that the recent successful hosting of international stars along with the ever-improving security situation in the country will lead to full tours including tests and One Day Internationals in Pakistan in the near future.

Sethi further stated that we need to work on our stadiums to be able to host international fixtures when the teams visit Pakistan. Having hosted World XI, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in recent times, and West Indies all set to play a series in March, the prospects of international cricket returning to our homeland are brighter than ever, Sethi hoped.

He said:

If we prepare our stadiums, we will be able to host matches with time. I believe international cricket will be fully restored in Pakistan within two years, at most.

Future of Cricket and the PSL

Talking about the impact of Pakistan Super League (PSL), he told that PSL has helped Pakistan cricket improve significantly in the shortest format, but we need to work on other formats as well.

The products of PSL are far from being called stars and he hoped that they will get there eventually if the team captain and selection committees persist with youngsters.

With more talent being discovered through PSL and at smaller levels, the country’s cricket is on the right track – the inconsistency will go away soon, he promised.

With prime focus on the biggest event in world cricket – Cricket World Cup 2019 – Sethi said “We are preparing for it in the best possible manner and that there is no room for corruption in the country’s favorite game.”
