Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Leaks Before Launch & Its a Beast

Xiaomi is expected to release the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro tomorrow.

Latest specifications leaked from India show that the Redmi 5 Note is a rebranded Redmi 5 Plus (as expected) with a Snapdragon 625 processor.

However, the real mid-range king will be the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which will feature even better hardware and design.

Here are the leaked images with specifications:

As evident from the image above, the Redmi Note 5 Pro will feature a design quite similar to its predecessor except for the camera module that reminds us of Apple’s iPhone X. On the front is an 5.9 inch 18:9 screen with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080) resolution. It manages up to 450 nits in brightness, which is not terribly bright but good enough for using in direct sunlight.

Expected Specifications

Here’s a brief list of the leaked specifications for the Redmi Note 5 Pro:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor
  • A dual camera setup of 12MP+5MP sensors at the back in a vertical orientation (a la iPhone X)
  • 20 MP selfie camera with Sony’s IMX 376 sensor and a LED flash.
  • 3/4/6 GB RAM and 32/64 GB storage options
  • Android Nougat with MIUI 9 for the OS
  • A large battery of around 4,000 mAh to power the device

The Snapdragon 636 in the pro version is around 20% faster than the Snapdragon 625 from the Redmi 5 Plus/Note. This will translate into a major performance difference between the two.

The advent of dual cameras in the Redmi phones is sure to improve the camera prowess of the series. The Redmi Note 5 Pro may have a leg up on the other Redmi phones in that aspect as well.

The battery life may be similar to or better than the Redmi Note 4, which already had an extremely good battery life.

Release Date and Price

Redmi Note 5 may hit the market tomorrow in India and in a few weeks for Pakistan. It may cost around Rs. 21,000 for the base model going by Redmi Note 4’s price.

Stay tuned for future updates.

  • Another chinese phone with MIUI. Seems crap to me. Better go fot Moto G5s plus, moto z play or Moto X4 with vanilla android and the best quality in mid range phones. Chinese are good in copying only.

      • The only phone in xiaomi xineup which i like is their android one device. Because of vanilla android. Others are crap with low quality build.

      • Ok go ahead and use software full of bloatware, battery leakage and hanging issues.
Vanilla android is for serious buyers, for gimmicky buyer you can buy any crap phone not having pure android.

        • lol, I’m using Huawei Phone for almost 6 months, no lag or slow down. Can share with you up time of the phone if you like. As a web developer adn sysadmin, I use plenty of apps and never had any issue with EMUI at least.

    • I don’t think xiaomi makes the most powerful phones but they do give you THE best value of money phones. And MIUI is one the best modified UI’s out there. Almost flawless.

      • May be among chinese phones xiaomi is the best. But you can’t compare its quality with apple, nokia, motorola and sony headsets. Value for money is good for short term use only. For quality spend little higher and get the best quality possible, which these chinese company dont provide.
MIUI is just the copy of Apple skin with android on the back.
