Darren Sammy & Cricket Legends Are Coming to Pakistan for Zalmi’s Annual Excellence Awards

The Peshawar Zalmi captain, Darren Sammy, will be returning to Pakistan to attend the Peshawar Zalmi’s Annual Excellence Awards.

The awards will take place on 30th April in Islamabad, where the likes of Brian Lara, Sir Viv Richards and Darren Sammy will be present at the ceremony.

Regarding Sammy’s inclusion at the event, chairman of the franchise, Javed Afridi, tweeted:

Darren Sammy is a very popular figure in Pakistan as he has expressed his love for Pakistani culture and its people. His heroics off the pitch are matched equally on the pitch as well; limping yet still striding forward to bat and field for Peshawar.

His passion has been rewarded with the love he receives from not just the Peshawar fans the admiration from all the cricket community of Pakistan.

Talking further, Javed also mentioned that some other prominent names will be in the audience for the first award ceremony, which is being held in collaboration with PTV – titled the Zalmi Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Other prominent names include Australian bowler Jeff Thomson, England captain Nasser Hussein and Graham Gooch.

It is a huge honor for Pakistan to be blessed with so many legends visiting the country upon the invitation from a local franchise and not even the board itself. This is a clear indication that Pakistan Super League (PSL) has impacted the reputation of the country on a global stage and it will continue to get better.
