NBP Launches Interest-Free Loan Scheme for Students

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has relaunched the Qarz-e-Hasna Scheme this time referred to as the Students Loan Scheme for deserving students. The last date to apply for the program is August 31, 2018.

National bank will be providing interest-free loans to the students from all parts of the country. The program is being implemented with the help of major banks including HBL, UBL, MCB and ABL.

Those who do not have the resources to acquire professional, technical and scientific education can now apply for the scheme with easy to repay plans after graduation or getting employed.

Eligibility Criteria

Students meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply for the loan:

  • Must have obtained admission on merit in the approved public universities/colleges
  •  Must meet the age criteria:
    • Graduation (=<21 years)
    • Post-Graduation (=<31 years)
    • PhD (=<36 years)
  • 70% marks in the previous exams
  • Must be studying any of the approved subjects
  • Unable to continue study due to lack of resources

How to Apply

The willing students can get the application form from the designated branches of NBP on download it online from this link.

If the student meets the eligibility criteria, he/she can duly fill in the application form and submit it to the designated branches assigned to each approved college/university before the deadline.

It must be noted that the students who have already availed the loan cannot apply for the scheme.

Repayment

The loan covers the entire duration of the study and will be disbursed to the students in the form of fee and boarding expense (paid directly to the university) and other charges including textbooks etc. ( paid to the student directly).

The loan is to be returned within 10 years from the disbursement of the first installment. The repayment period begins one year after graduation or after six months of employment.
