Hafeez’s Bowling Action Under Radar Again?

Seasoned New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor objected to Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action during the opening game of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan.

Taylor complained to umpires that Hafeez was bowling ‘Doosra’ with slightly altered action, which he is not allowed to do.

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, who was unpleased with Taylor’s act, moved up to Taylor and the duo exchanged heated words before the umpires had to intervene.

Umpires also overruled Taylor’s objection and asked him to continue batting and leave the rest on them.

It was a positive sign for Hafeez, as the skipper did not remove him from the bowling despite the objection.

Hafeez has remodelledĀ his bowling action thrice in last four years. He was first reported for suspected action in a Test match against Sri Lanka in December 2014.

He returned after a remedial work in April 2015 and was reportedĀ again three months later. This time the bowler served a 12-month ban from bowling.

The right-arm offspinner was reported during an ODI against Sri Lanka in October 2017 and returned with a remodelled action in April 2018. Since then, his responsibilities with the ball has been minimised by the captain Sarfraz.
